Hey I'm an electric bike fan and I don't like either. Too bare bones IMO.

You wouldn't be alone, I'm not a fan of the bottom one. Something about bicycle seats on motorcycles just rubs me the wrong way. Also looks like a very flexy frame in terms of twist between head tube and swing arm.

The top one I kinda like. I know its a hub motor electric scooter, but the suspension and frame design looks very effective - stiff vs twist for all the reasons the bottom one is not. Plus no bicycle seat. Probably also very expensive, but looks like it could be all the fun of a Grom, with even less weight.

This bike consists of a Yanmar Diesel cement mixer engine, with no mods, A BSA A10 gearbox and a custom built frame. Other parts used are as follows: A one off exhaust, Aprillia rs125 front forks and brakes, wheel. Aprillia rs125rear wheel/brake. Ducati rear master cylinder.Sportster tank, moddified. Colour: black magic pearl paint. Saucpan clutch cover. One off primary cover. This bike was built by Gaz's Custom Shake

That is frikkin awesome! Proper bastard bike :D I'd looove to own it just because I'd wanna see the faces in my local DMV office when I go register a diesel motorbike.

Would hafta make an exhaust for it though...

New BikExif post. Seriously, built in the dudes garage in 18 months (broken up over 3 years)? I mean yeah, he has a cnc in his garage, and had some iconel "just laying around"... but really? I feel ashamed of myself now.

Yeah, I'm not in love with the rear subframe styling. The tube-built front end looks better, IMO. But that's just personal taste, and there may be a functional reason to box in something under the sub frame.

I'm pretty sure this is the first 'busa wearing all it's fairings that I've actually liked!

That bike is freaking cool...

Anybody else notice the headset is mounted on the ENDS of the suspension arms? Its a Hossack front, or would be if they used a steering link to keep the bars from bouncing up and down with every bump in the road. Steering link would actually be pretty easy given the design - those hefty plates that hold the shock top would be an easy spot to mount a small headset right over the fork / actual head tube. Drop a scissors link, just like a real Hossack ... but I guess it would ruin the "look".

But what's puzzling me is, why does the back wheel have what looks like TWO brake rotors, of different diameters?

I'm much more intrigued by the (probably heavy as fuck) steel wheels which area apparently welded from formed sheet! More specifically, what is up with the welded slots on the "spokes" that seem to not weld anything in place? Remnants of the fixturing??

Steering setup lends itself to a direct road feel... could see the appeal, performance aspects aside.

Plug weld run in a slot. The spokes are all T shaped in section, the photos just lack the contrast needed to define them. I think the rear spokes may even have deeper section to make them resist torque better. I kinda like them, welding up wheels takes some guts if nothing else and they seem decently thought out and made. Heavy, like you say, but probably not much worse than all the CNC milled monsters you see at that size. Good use of plate cut assembly.

Direct road feel is one way to put it... but yeah, probably not any worse than the back end, anyhow.
