Here's a pic of the headlight brackets I made out of galvanized pipe clamps and rubber strips
I still have some work to do on those brackets as well as mounting blinkers, cleaning up the tail, putting the carbs back on, painting etc. That's a Buell BLAST headlight BTW. Let me know what you think, I'll post more pics and info as I go.
Number 2 mixed with number 1. Cafe tail tilted a little more upwards and undertail exhaust using one of these cans (shortened of course.) with only the end cap coming out of the tail.:shocker:
as is I like #1 best. Though #2 has alot of potential. hate the exhaust in #2 and #3. #2 Would look tits with tail expanded back a little and exhaust setup like the MV in your avatar.
Ya I got sick of looking at the gold can already myself, glad I didn't paint it... As much as I like #1, I think I'll end up going with #2. I love cafe tails and I think it will be the most cost effective build, I'll just have to find someone to weld up a new subframe on the cheap, I'm thinking my neighbor might do it for me. I'll make a new version of #2 in GIMP, adjusting tail size and position and go with a carbon slip on. Now I just need some money to do some real work, thanks for the input though guys, I'll post that concept pic soon.
I almost did that same thing myself, had a tail section at the shop and mocked it up....I didn't like it personally. It just doesn't match up with any other shape or form on the bike, and it's a very wide tail.
It's wide huh? That sucks. I wanted something narrow to go with the tank, maybe I'll look into some of the cafe tails airtech makes. I think they list the measurements of most of their parts, or at least their "universal" tails. Maybe I can find one that will kinda fit the stock subframe, I'll look into it.
What's up guys? Since I got a new job (More than doubled my pay!!!) I have gotten some more work done on my bike and have more parts in the mail. I made some headlight brackets out of 1\4" aluminum plate using a vice, hack saw, file and a drill, pics below. Also finished soldering repairs and wrapping the entire harness in 3M Super 33+ tape as well as replacing some wires with thicker gauge and added new blinkers and LED license plate bolts. Changed the brake fluids and bled em, re-painted the reservoir cap too. I have a new Motion Pro CR throttle set-up and slim kill switch coming in the mail that I can't fuckin wait for. I sealed the gas tank/Pingel petcock plate using rubber-fiber gasket material and SEAL ALL, that should hold it's been a leaky pain in the ass since I got the bike. "Recharged" my K&N pods and cleaned my carbs, cut down my gas line so it's almost a straight down shot from my tank to my carbs. I went for a nice ride today too, first one of the year and the maiden voyage of my slingshot as "Wrist Rocket". Holy shit I forgot how fast this bike is especially with squeaky clean carbs and filters, I can't imagine what the 1100's are like...
Heres a few pics that my girl snapped before the battery on her camera died, I'll get some more soon with some more close ups of what I've done.
Here' the headlight set-up made from hanger pipe clamps, rubber and aluminum plate. You can buy them for $90 or make them for about $20 like I did. I coiled up and zip tied all the front end wiring to hang it behind my headlight:
Here's a few others, more to come
Let me know what you think. Also I'd be happy to make these style brakets for folks on here for a fee if anyone's interested.
Well, my motion pro throttle assembly order was canceled by an idiot in there online parts department. She told me she canceled the order because none of the parts I ordered will work on my specific model... I then sent her a fuck you email explaining to her what "motorcycle modification" is... It was a blessing in digguise though because I ended up getting a Duc throttle assembly new unused off EBAY for FIVE DOLLARS!!! Just so everyone knows a 90 GSXR 750 throttle cable can work with a Ducati throttle assembly. I just had to grind some pieces off of the throttle tube and inside the assembly. I have a slim kill switch coming in the mail to go with the slim DUC throttle. Heres some pics of the throttle, the first 2 show how I modified the throttle.
