Default Are there any motocross riders here?

Was just wondering if any streetfighter builders are also dirtbike riders like me. I am also a regular follower of the SX and MX pro races.

The beauty of this combination is that I can go nuts on the track and ride a little more calm on the road. Doesn't always apply though. Popping wheelies is as fun on and off road. But you know it feels right to say to your loved ones.

Here's my 2 smoker:

Show us yours.

Making a dirtbike streetlegal! I am still debating on my next build. have to start looking into a new project as the FZR is about done and I will have a few months off work. Know that feeling when your halfway threw the build and are like, nahhh don't feel like starting something new. And coming to the end you cannot wait to start on a new project?

Anyway looking into building a street legal supermoto out of a dirtbike or pick up a GSXR slingshot.

Love those. Both must be fun to build and ride.

Back to motocross. You watched the Indy SX last weekend and catch what Dungey said in his podium interview? I'd say he is over it like Villo was. He lost the heart for it.

Ill have to watch it.

I used to hit red bud alot but good motocross tracks around here are few and far in between. Mostly just woods riding or tresspassing and exploring. There are a few hidden areas i and others in my region have transported equipment and made a short set of jumps.

Grew up on dirtbikes. Never got in to the MX or SX scene, but I love enduro/harescramble type riding. I wandered away towards drag racing, ended up back on street bikes and just recently got back in to offroad riding a few months ago. I enjoy it more than anything.

Picked up a titled XR 400 a few months ago. Love this bike. It's slowly getting spruced up. I'll be respringing the forks this weekend and tuning the rebound valving shim stacks a little more. Got my eye on some hydraulic clutches I'd like to fit up sometime, too.

My wallet... and wife... really wish I knew that feeling.

I'd really like to get into dirtbikes more. I've only been a few times, which is stupid because I have some major connections in the dirty world. Maybe this year.

So we have some dirt lovers, always fun to get wicked on the tracks. The wife thing is one, as atm it's motocross on Saturdays and working on the streetbike on Sundays and in the evenings. Getting complaints of shortage of time together.

I currently live in the Netherlands, Amsterdam to be exact. So no trail riding possibilities in these areas, only on tracks. But it is something I want to get into, as we are immigrating to Poland in a few months. I'll have to get me an older enduro for the woods and mountain bike for the hills. I love everything related to dirt.

You have been everywhere, any particular reason you got back to it and away from dragracing?

Hardest thing is to choose on Friday night what to ride/work on during the weekend.

Better not get into it Mcantar, if you already have the wife and wallet issues, they won't bear more.

I got in to drag racing when I got my driver's license. My first vehicle was a '72 C20 with a 402 and I got hooked by the American V8 torque. After about 15 years of street racing and hauling heavy bastards to the track I got tired of it all. Always missed riding dirtbikes with my Dad. One day I was hauling the race car back from the track due to getting rained out and saw a couple guys riding bikes in a field and got passed by a guy on a hardtail Sporty. That's when I decided, ", fuck it, I'm getting a bike". I put the word out among my friends and ended up being given a '76 CB750F. Then I got hooked in that scene, but it's no replacement for riding dirt.

Also helps that I live on 100 acres and my best friend lives next door and his 40 acres joins my land. I used to come home from work, hop on a street bike and ride aimlessly for a few minutes here and there. Kinda boring. Now, I come home and ride in the woods for a couple hours practically each day. Snow and rain don't matter. Just go. I can get way more seat time on a dirtbike than other type of vehicle. I think that makes the biggest difference.

I still love me a big red, white and blue V8 chopping on wood, but I'll take a thumper over that any day.

Careful. You might get hooked and find yourself completely bored with street riding ever again.

You can go full hoon 100% of the time on a dirtbike and have zero legal worries and falling in the dirt doesn't really hurt you or the bike. Lots of freedom in it.

For the most part I agree. It kinda depends on how fast and where you fall.
