Default Rdannar's "Headcase" build thread

Well picked this up exactly one week ago. 90/91 FZR 1000 with 33k miles. Everything is original as far as I can tell except for the pipe. It still has the original dinged up fairings.

finally started stripping her down, what a mess. Had to drill out to fairing bolts just to get the lower fairings off. I plan on riding this the next couple of weeks so I am keeping it just enough to be legal. Put on my borrowed head light off of my gs550 (maybe next years build) and gonna figure out something for the gauges to get me through the week.

first try at welding the bottom half of the adjustable angled subframe, came out a little crooked so I have to cut them and reweld tonight. Not too bad for my first time ever welding with a mig

while thinking more about the subframe, I decided to take off the exhaust and have a go at that. I took the guts out of my muzzy and put them in a truck tip exhaust with the muzzy tip slid in. Its not done but here are some pics. Gotta get all the nasty rust off the headers.
