Default GSX600F (KATANA) build

This is my first venture into bike modification, I was looking for something to do to while away the long winter hours and found this on the net

this became the inspiration for the build, after a couple of false starts I eventually found a bought this fine looking example :/ Oh how looks can be deceptive.

I set about stripping it down and deciding which direction I wanted to go, First I removed the plastics and it began to look a whole lot better.

I found a GSX550 ES seat cowl on fleabay for pennies and as it had the flick I liked it was purchased even though it dosn't look to good in it's original incarnation.

But with a little imagination ...

I wasn't happy with the fitting so out came my favourite tool.

Then I flipped the bars for a cafe feel.

Found a rear light that fits the look I'm going for.

Painted front forks and cut the front mudguard down to a more acceptable size.

Test fitted new 7inch headlamp and clocks.

Remove the battery box for relocation (hopefully under the seat cowl later) & gave the seat cowl a quick coat of satin black to get the feel of things to come.

I also stripped the seat down to the base, cut it up a little and tortured it it the shape I wanted with the help of a blow torch. I then secured the seat cowl to what is left of the seat base in readiness for fibre glass.

and this is where I am at now

I will post up more as and when I can, I would appreciate your comments or suggestions but please don't be offended if I don't pick them up and run with them LOL!

It's nice to see these Kat's get a much deserved make over. They always get prettier as they get more naked. Nice job with the tail pan.

Looking good so far, and you will be happy after cutting the pipe down.

I like the tail you're using. And that picture is what made me want to fighter my Kat too.

I'm tempted to just baffle the straight pipe but it may get me a little too much attention of the wrong kind.

Playing around with the idea of a Black and Gold colour scheme, but not totally sold on it yet. I would welcome your opinions.
