Using a piece of metal mesh cut it to the form of your cutout ,Overlapping buy about 1 inch. Tape one edge down leaving about 3/4 inch exposed:

use you finger to form the mesh it to the cutout. (You may do this step a couple times to get the shape you want):

When you are happy with the shape tape down all sides leaving the same margine evenly around:

Place the piece you cut out back in the center with some light weight to hold it all down.Use fibreglass resin, or plastic glue or whatever adhesive you are comfortable with and apply it to the exposed area of the mesh (Be carful no to let it run into open mesh area) Let sit till resin is dry
