Pride

Everyone’s been asking me lately how I felt and what I thought of the launch of Custom Fighters Magazine. I’ve had a lot of different thoughts about it, all good of course, but I can always bring it down to one word. Pride.
The first thing I think when I say that is “do I have the right to be proud?” After all, as far as the magazine is concerned, I did no more than a lot of other members, got one write-up printed and bought pile of ‘em to distribute in Canada. I thought about it a lot and said “ya know, fuck yes I can be proud”. |

When I first found Custom Fighters online there was only 85 members---less than 10 of those 85 have been online in 2008…now there’s 3227 members signed up (holy shit!). That’s a growth of almost 4 members a day since the site launched. Unprecedented. That’s obviously due in large part to Adam’s vision and Miller’s unmatched webmaster capabilities but there’s also another role in that. The members of this movement are PROUD to be a part of it. We represent Custom Fighters wherever we go, with decals, shirts, attitudes, bikes, now a magazine, the infamous Skully logo---this is OUR site, provided for ‘fighters, by ‘fighters.
Looking at Issue #1 in its entirety, it’s easy to forget that it truly is Issue #1. Most people can’t even fathom that it’s a fledgling publication. It all comes back to that word again, pride. Everyone who contributed to the mag is proud of it, what it has done and what it will accomplish. The bikes are top notch, the writing is well done, the finish is amazing,
Pride is also a driving force behind why we build our bikes the way we do. Whether we take pride in how shiny it is (or isn’t), pride in that little bracket we made, or pride in our homebuilt turbo setup, we are proud of them. Ninety nine percent of the streetfighters we see are built to appease the owner, no one else. Yes, some are for advertising or show, or whatever, but I guarantee you the owner is proud of what he accomplished.
I could go on and on about this word, to the point that you won’t wanna hear it anymore.
Cheers, to bigger and better. Keep fightin’
