i fully agree!!! i definitely wouldn't play if my league was co-ed. i only play with guys if it's just for fun. my league (terminal city rollergirls) is all female and it's definitely going to stay that way. as far as this corporate takeover shit, i'm afraid because i've seen it all too many times where all these promises get made and then the corporate realizes they're losing money and try to find ways to turn a profit. i'm trying to stay open minded about it, which is why i haven't commented on the thread, but i have yet to see an example where this type of alignment has allowed things to stay "for the people". like a few, my heart sank. i love VIP and want to stay one, but if this place ends up becoming one giant pop up or i start getting ads in my messaging based on key words in my posts, or i start seeing promotions for vanilla joe-blow motorbikes.com i may have to jump ship on paying for this.

yeah, there's a men's league out here. it's not my cup of tea but i do enjoy opportunities to skate against guys. they're not allowed to shoulder check but can hip check us. this is good because we have to play a more positional/strategic game instead of trying to hit dudes that won't even flinch. to this day, the best hit anyone has ever laid on me was in a co-ed scrimmage. i was jamming against a guy who's about 6'4" 200 something and i'm 5'3" 126. we were both turning a corner halfway back to the pack and he's slightly ahead of me when suddenly he turn around and hits me with such a solid and hard hip check, it sent me flying, no SOARING off the track with my sliding corpse landing about 20 feet out. i was completely winded and i could hear the crowd gasp. he felt super bad and bought me a beer afterwards but it was a clean hit. and i was really proud of myself for only staying down for 2 seconds and scrambling back to my feet. so i will give men's derby that.

hahaha. well i think at this point in derby having made a comeback as sport not spectacle in the last 7 or 8 years, it would be stupid not to train as athletes. sure people come in all shapes and sizes but some girls think you can just strap on some skates and poof, you're legit. you'd better believe someone my size has to hit the gym and stay fit/strong enough to take a hit and still keep skating fast against a few of the mammoths out there.

She's a friend of mine, we dated for a little while. Her Dad raised her with her 4 siblings because their Mom took off. I'm a wannabe photographer and was taking shots of her doing yoga poses and took the opportunity to get snap some of her with my bike.

You're welcome Jordan! Guess I happen to agree with a lot of the things you say...;)
