Thank you guys! I had the central cylindrical metal part to my garage laying around and wille I was searching at pinterest the cafe racers for inspiration, a BMW R80 came up and that's how I started to work it in my mind.
I gave this morning frame and subframe at the welder to finish the job.
He told me that I will get it back tomorrow but after a few hours he call me to come pick it up!
I have it in my garage but I didn't have the time to take pictures. The welds looking good! I will try to post some pictures tomorrow
Good to see this in the Winter build section Leroy . Nice work on the undertail I like tha curve cutout for the muffler nice attention to detail mate .Als o the paint looks real good in your pics there well done ,that's something I always mess up .
Cheers Robbo! With cans the result would be beter with my hands. Haven't paint anything with spray gun before. The subframe is a mess but it isn't visible at the pics. When I get back to the bike I will show you. I just hope I can fix it with out to spray it again. But I have my doubts about that =D
Dude, I've been spray painting a simple front fender for 5 days now. Still needs more work. There's not much a suck at more than painting , so you have my admiration
I hope so. The bigger chalenge will be instaling the electrics.
There is no much space to hide the relays, rectifier, battery etc.
I could make a box to place all those staf between the engine and shock, but I have to instal the carbs and see with how much space I will end up.
To be honest I prefer to tear apart a hole bike down to parts than scrubbing, bonding and painting.
I have a fiberglass fairing kit two years now siting to the self, because every time I'm thinking all the job that have to be done :LolLolLolLol:
Leroy.
I once had an 81 XT 500. Still have some parts left over, if you run into something you cannot find.
Parts (What I can think of right now)
1.) Complete front end & wheel
2.) Exhaust from Motor to end can.
3.) Stock air-box & battery tray.
I know shipping to Greece would be $$$ but if ya can find this stuff it's yours for price of shipping.
I haven't think about that and this wheel waight it's huge. 40 or 45g!
Sure I have to short out a lot of details till the end of the build.
I will add it at the to do list. Smoker you are very discerning!
Don't let it die my mate. I've been disappointed to many times with the difficulties of this project and our life always find a way to keep us busy. Let it rest for a while I'm sure that you will find your way
They are the right length. Unfortunately I didn't swapped the hub my self and I had to send it to a tyre shop and pay for new spokes and assembly. This damn front wheel assembly cost me already 105 euros that means 120$
Yes. You loosen the spokes that go from the side of the hub you want to move it away from, and then tighten the spokes on the side you want to move it to.
Of course you can only go so far before you run out of how much spoke is in the nipple (on the side you loosen) or having it stick out through the nipple (and have to grind it down or risk damaging your tubes), but you can adjust it some.
