Took another look at the rear master on my WR.

Noticed it's almost identical. Should be able to cross-reference a billet cap.

Found one with no logo. Might take a while to arrive. Coming from China/Taiwan.

Less than $8 usd, including shipping.

Billet master cap arrived.

I like it better than the OEM cap, but would prefer a darker blue color.

OK for now, it was cheap.

could it be stripped and re-anodized? I think alu anodizing uses an actual dye to make the color (unlike Ti which just uses solution and current) so it might be possible to get the color you want (I think, no expert on anodize).

someone smarter than me will have more info Im sure.

This is correct. It is not an exact science. A dye is added during the anodizing process. Thus no two anodized parts will look the same unless they came form the same batch. To make the situation worse, the dyes tend to fade with time. Some dyes fade faster than others (depending on the color) but all will eventually fade. My suggestion would be to purchase all the aluminum part either raw (not anodized) or clear anodized during the build process... then when the bike is near completion send out all of the aluminum parts at once to be anodized in the same batch. As explained to me by industry professionals, that's the only way to guarantee colors will match from part to part.

I've even sent out a batch to anodize, with everything from the same batch of barstock, and had it come back in different colors. for all I know it was done in 2 batches but we were expecting it to all look the same.

A steering damper dampens steering oscillations. If it starts to leak, it may become a steering dampener. There's no such thing as a dampner.

I know it does to some extent - some TIG filler rods won't anodize very well, as an example.

I was just surprised that we sent out a batch of ~100 small parts, all made from the same batch of barstock (although I suppose it's possible there were multiple manufacturers represented, never checked), and it wasn't all the same. I was mentioning this just to make it clear that getting things to match isn't easy.
