that lawson video you posted makes me want to build an old retro motard out of some big 2 smoke

gsxr build:http://www.customfighters.com/forums...ad.php?t=10799

If you have to ask you don't understand.
If you want it built right you got to build it your self.
No Apologies

I think you can build something cool like that on a low budget. There are tons of old 2 stroke engines out there looking for a second life. A lot of cheap dirt bikes and enduros, too.

Well, the Aprilia parts order is in.
$2,300 for 15 pieces...I probably only need about 200 more pieces!!
I don't know why I do these things without thinking them through, but who cares...

THE PROJECT IS ON!!!

I'm guessing these parts will arrive next week.

I choose not to have any savings, investments, or retirement plan. I don't have a wife or kids, and the place I live in isn't very nice. Basically, I'm putting all my money into building bikes.

Since I retired from judo, there has been a big void in my life. Somehow building these bikes is the challenge I've been needing. I guess, if I didn't have to sacrifice so much, the challenge wouldn't be big enough for me.

Hopefully, I can hang in there long enough to get my bikes completed. Then, I've got to start getting the rest of my life together. I won't be building bikes like these in the future.

Got a pic from someone who did a test, and who probably knows more than me about bikes. He recommended to use the RZ frame instead if the Aprilia frame. That seems to be the opinion of some of the knowledgeable guys I know.

I still want to try to make the Aprilia frame work. If it doesn't - it'll cost me the $550 USD for the frame and whatever work I put into it, but I think it's worth taking a chance. Hopefully, I can still use all the other Aprilia parts with the RZ frame, if I have to go that route.

how is the tube part of the frame attached to the cast part? it looks as if it slides into the frame?

I don't know, but my guess is that the aluminum is cast onto the steel frame. There could be barbs on the steel inside of the aluminum, to keep the steel from pulling out.

The drop-down bracket on the Aprilia frame for the RZ front engine mount will look a lot like the front of the frame on the RZ.

The main drop-down brackets can be straight bars with a crossbar at the bottom for the front engine mounts and the torque bar mounts. The radiator mounts will be up above the exhaust pipes.

Is it going to have to tie into that aluminum frame in the back after dropping down?
