so i have a 95 zx6r and im swapping some 07 zx10r forks on to it, i have everything ready to go the problem now is the stem. I cant just swap over my stem into the 10r stem since the bottom ID is 5mm different (10r is 35mm mine is 30mm) i do have a zx6r J stem which would be perfect since it shares the top ID of my zx6r bearing (25mm) and the bottom of ID of the 10r bearing. of course a spacer is required for the top if i do the J stem. But swapping the J stem is now a problem since its about an inch too long as seen below. Any ideas on what to do? get some one to thread the stem down more? im not too sure
ill try that out before i head to the machine shop. i also have a zx7 stem that is 9/16ths longer. all i would need is to turn it down, make the diameter 25mm and thread it, next best option.
I know it's been awhile but was wondering how you got on with fitting your forks as I am trying to fit 94 zx9r usd forks and have the same problem with stem sizes.
