Default oil cooler hose hardware question

Is there any easy / clean way to put a U turn (or similar hardware) on a flange fitting on an oil cooler? I think the entrance / exit flanged tubes on my cooler are welded in place (bummer, because the ones on the engine are NOT, so if I had a better cooler I could do AN6 or some such) and I'd like to route the one that faces forward towards the back of the bike, without resorting to a doofy looking loop of hose.

I suppose worst case, I can put some hose on the flange, butt a barb fitting U turn right up against it, and camp em both. I'd prefer something cleaner though, am looking for some sort of hardware-to-hardware fitting.

Have the flanges you want welded to it. You could have the setup the way you really want for under $100.

For the particular look your bike has already, how about forming some soft copper tubing for the oil lines and just using a short bit of rubber hose to connect the ends?

Hell yeah as industrial and wild as that thing is I'd steampunk the shit out of it. A big gauge on the oil line reading pressure wouldn't go amiss.

That is certainly tempting. I just wish there was a better way to connect hard lines to the cooler. In theory I could run the hard lines right down to the filter adapter, if I got the right hardware, because that bit is threaded, so CAN take new hardware.

Given that I'm ditching the stock instrument cluster, having something to replace the idiot light might actually be a good idea. The one on my FJ comes on fairly often - I think the sump pickup is at the front of the engine.

I'd never even heard of them. I thought I was buying a stock cooler (some XJ models came with em). The extremely 80's logo is a nice touch, was part of why I mounted it so visibly.

I have had some painful experiences w/ the Lockhart brand. Outer frame of cooler is not the most resilient of materials... junk aluminum!

Those lines are oddly placed, never seen anything like that. I'd personally start with a different one and sell that on ebay and make your money back. I would think anything welded on to extend/adapt those lines would be fragile if you didn't take them back down to the cooler and start from square one, and at that point, other than cause you can, why bother? Might make better use of time and money to start with something else.

I think if you could find a cooler that had both come out the side, it would make a ton more sense in your application. This one's 200 bucks, but it was the first one I saw that looked like my thinky pictures.
