Blow through if it's gonna be on the street, or in cold environments, or really anything other than a dedicated drag bike. And even then blow through is still better.

Hypermotard 1100S the weight-shavening.
Bandit 1200 cafe/fighter that will never get finished at this rate.

Draw through if you are lazy and / or cheap, because it doesn't require fuel pump or (theoretically / as much) re tuning.

You might want to look into a turbo with a carbon seal for a draw through application. The seal helps keep oil from potentially being sucked out of the turbo in instances where high vacuum can occur ie closing the throttle quickly.

carbon seal was the issue I was going to mention, much easier getting a turbo for blow through and draw through pipework is more difficult to make in my experience,

draw through looks as kool as fuck , but I found the blow through easier to build and easy to live with ..... and the sound off of a spooling ball bearing turbo is addictive

The major voodoo that kept motorcycle tuners reliant on draw through systems was the intake plenum and pitot tube... both of those have been figured out and brought down to an exact science at this point. Only reason to go draw through, as said, is cost. Mr. Turbo used to make a killing selling draw through kits up until about 10 years ago when people started to figure out the blow through systems complexity and apply it to pretty much every multi-cylinder motorcycle on the planet.

Yamaha's Seca Turbo's were way ahead of their time and can honestly be given the credit for alot of the development that went into providing a solid baseline on how this all works in the first place, at least for mere mortal man that doesn't have a degree in engineering.

There is very few turbo's with carbon seals, even fewer with carbon seal kits available. You can make your own, but it requires a bit of knowledge and some machinist skill as well. The IHI RHB3 (the little baby turbo's) have a web page about how to fabricate and install a carbon seal into them, and the TO4E turbocharger (big bastard) has an available carbon seal kit as well. Without a carbon seal you'll get a bit of oil drawn into the intake, and some smoke on deceleration, and that will mess with the A/F a little bit too... everything about a draw through system is a compromise in order to gain power, where as the blow through, tuned correctly, runs like a stock bike off boost, and fuels individual cylinders much better on boost.

You can slop on the power like a mad man with a draw through system though, even tuned rather badly they run alright and will melt your face off on boost... but the on/off/on of throttle input is trash when you compare it to a well tuned blow through system.

Anyone interested in turbocharging should pick up a copy of this book, not cheap, but readily available through Amazon. Had a copy of it looooong ago, ended up buying a new one recently (as well as all the other turbo books I used to have that vanished over the years) and have to say that reading back through it reminded me why I know such an overwhelming amount about turbocharging.

That book is one of 3-4 books I have on boosted applications. It’s a very good resource.

If it runs and you can ride it then it would be a good start if you're interested in the turbo build as a lot of the parts you'll need are there.

That particular setup is indeed worth it though, looks like a proper setup, would probably run pretty good too considering it appears to be either a Mr. Turbo kit, or something along the lines of it. If I remember right, those kits cost about as much as the asking price on the bike itself in that ad.

The kits still list for $4k. Judging by the parts I can see clearly on that pic, it probably is a Mr. Turbo system.
