look at my CB1300 build, i made it to look like ally joined to steel , can still have ally subframe, just needs bolted on

Fun fact: in Finland if you have a welded-on subframe that`s hallowed ground you cannot touch it. IF however your subbie is a bolt-on you CAN WELD UP one then bolt it on, I`ve done it so I`d know. And since we`re not some track-hugging gram-wankers here I`ll bet my next lunch you cannot tell the difference weight wise if you`re sitting on alu or steel while riding.

We get fingered when showing up at inspection with welded subframe. Thats the reason i prefered to get a bike with bilt on subframe. Not a big trouble to bolt some stuff once in two years

Not sure we have the same grief with a welded subby here in the UK. The bolted on solution that I have seen on other bikes seems complex and out of my league...passing a subframe idea to a welder seemed like the best option. Earlier in this thread it was explained what would be needed in terms of a bolt on solution with inserted slugs half cut through to allow an ally inversely cut slug which seems a lot of work that might be unfamiliar to potential welders?
