Default Drilling heel plates...

So as not to fuck up yet another home made heel plate/guard, does anyone have a template or a fool proof way to drill go faster holes? Also, in mm, what's a reasonable size hole to go for....6mm? thanks.

cover in masking tape, draw out pattern first. once happy , centre punch all holes, pilot drill first, a centre drill be best, they dont flex and wander , then in with 6mm drill

Took more than a couple of goes...looks easier than it is in practice. Not being a CNC machine and it all done by eye means it's not perfect but good enough I reckon. Probably going to paint it black so as to tone down the polish.

Hmmm...it did have a cheese grater look about it. Would you keep the holes 6mm but space them out more or only drill holes in one area of the plate? I am aesthetically challenged!

I have said goodbye to holes in the plate...fuck me...how difficult?! I even used graph paper and still managed to fuck it up. Photo with all three attempts shows that i improved but just cannot pull it off. Anyone got any ideas of something easier to make it look a little nicer to look at...gonna paint it black i think for starters.
