Default Mikuni carb quesrton ?????????????

Just wondering if a modern flat slide carb from a 2T will perform for a 4T engine.

Say removing a carb from a CR250 and swapping it over to a 400cc thumper.
I realize jeting will need tuning, just not sure about needle profiles.

Any light shed onto the subject will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Nope. The flat slide you find on a 4 stroke the slide is driven mechanically and have much heavier springs(just from a mechanical stand point) where a 2 stroke carb actually has the cable connected to the slide. Besides that difference there are some big differences in the basic functionality of how the jetting passages work and are designed to provide fuel for the different engine types.

what 400 thumper are you trying to put a carb on?

Ah ha.......... I see.
Have many different 2T bikes around the shop, and know those Mik's and Keh's well.
Button chokes and like you sad, cable fastens to the slide.
Recall now that the 2 thumpers have a link'd actuator.
Just haven't had anything in my hand from a modern thumper.

Actually I'm weighing my options in replacing the carbs in the V65 Sabre.
Bought the bike after it sat for many years and now have the carbs off.
There has to be something I can retrofit in, and replace the cluster fuk of CV bullshit.

I do have a pair of low mileage Weber IDFs and a brand new DCOE I could experiment with.

every modern MX bike or enduro will run an FCR carb. The only exceptions would be road legal bikes, they typically will still have a CV carb. I put an FCR on my drz but i purchased the carb new. You can find used FCRs on ebay for various prices. Ive seen $100-$300. But keep in mind that every FCR is different. each manufacturer has some mods that suit them. It could be as simple as a tps, hot start or choke setup

again, +1 for shift lol. I would keep an eye out for an fzr off of a yamaha yfz450 quad. Its still has the jettable leak jet so it can be tuned in to be perfect and it has a carb mounted hot start so you dont have to worry about building a bracket and or running it all the way up to your handlebars.
