Well I wouldn't have either, but M357.5 had a hell of a deal on them! Come to think of it, I think I almost have half of his old bike. Maybe I should rename the build to 178.75

Did you re thread your steering stem to run a nut under the top triple or did you just torque everything from the top nut? Guess I could have done the exact same thing for my stem if that works. Was always thinking I needed that nut under the top triple.

Yeah I just ran the top nut, I might re-thread the bottom to add the lock nuts, It does make me a little nervous having only the 1 nut. But with a little blue locktite I don't think It will back out. I am also considering adding a bolt down through the stem to ensure nothing can back right off.

Cool, I was just wondering. Because it would be another option to consider. My plan so far is to cut the 636 stem to match the top of the bottom triple. Turn out the inside to allow a press fit of my RF stem. Then put it on.

If I am reading that right you would be relying on friction to hold the rf stem in the bottom triple. unless you are thinking of using the 636 stem and machining a bushing out of it that you would push the rf stem up through the bottom so it can't push through?
