Coating cost me a burger and fries. I'm not worried about the cost, just annoys me that they aren't smooth. Hard to stand back and admire them when they look like I powdercoated over a corrosion pitted rim.

I've wondered before, is it possible to flat and polish powder?

Yes, it is urethane after all, but I'm not up for polishing around all these dimples and edges. Easier for me to just smooth and paint over.

Yeah, fair enough. Just wondered as I had a set of wheels powdered and they were rough like that. I was gonna see about sanding them but I sold them instead.

Depends on the finish. I've sanded PC and had open pores appear. There shouldn't be any yet sometimes there is.

Pores was my concern, too. Especially since all the other pats did fine I was thinking the extruded rims may have been outgassing.

Broke out the noise makers.

Coat of etching primer.

Coat of sealer.

Ridiculous what paint costs, but thie stuff flowed out incredibly well. Made it look like I had a clue.

Started hanging the suspension back on, but one of the fork boots split, so one more thing to order.

Getting there...

Gah! Having trouble getting my hands on shocks. Nobody Stateside stocks Hagons and buying them direct cost me about $100. I am itching to build these wheels and stand the bike on its feet, but not with rusty shocks.

One eBay seller says they will be back in stock sometime in September.

Came home to bunches of boxes after work. Everything I needed to build the wheels and the seals to get the engine back together.

However, the KLR rim proved to a straight up bastard to lace. Weird hubs with really severe spokes, and trying not to scratch paint, had me spending all evening on just this one wheel. It was a paint o true up, too, but all good now.

Found a clean shiny top not in the pile that fit the stem. Turned up a little washer to keep it from digging in to the yoke.

Almost forgot to rivet the VIN plate and data tag back on the frame. With tags like these who needs manuals?

The rear Honda wheel will be a breeze to build and my tires should show up tomorrow. Really looking forward to seeing this thing as a roller.
