There might be something to that then. Considering the frame is aluminum they weren't on a budget so steel might have been the better choice. Can they be cleaned up and repowdered?

Hi this will be a phenomenal build ones you got some of the stuff sorted.
I had one of these bikes (RZ500) it was a great bike and it sure stopped people in their tracks when they saw it.
That was 15 years ago so I can only imagine what it will be nowadays.
There is a company in Australia that builds GP500 replicas with this bike and others like the RG500 .....
they sell some pretty neat stuff for these bikes.Good luck with the build

Mick Costin?

I don't think he has anything I need, or can't make myself.

Most of these GP replicas never see a track - except to take photos.

I'll do my best with it. I don't want it to be like like the other modified RZ500s I've seen. :snooze:

I think steel is a better choice. But it rusts, so I don't like using it.

So, stainless or titanium are my choices. Not sure if titanium is strong enough, so I'll have to check the parts for stress/fatigue at regular intervals.

Finally received the elusive RZV500 Swingarm Pivot Bolt. Different than on the RZ500 and very hard to find in good condition. The dude that loaned it to me also wants a titanium version, and hopefully the machine shop won't take too long to make them.

I'm going to change up the head a bit, and the length.

Spent more than half the day figuring out what nut to use.

Finally found the nut I want, but will have to modify it to fit. Had to figure out the Rear Axle Nut and Steering Head Nut at the same time.

Also received the RZV "Special" Bolt, Nut and Collar, that go through the Frame, Relay Arms and Suspension Link. Also very difficult to find used. Mine are in pieces after removing them from the bike, due to rust and corrosion.

Looking at these parts to see how they can be modified to prevent the Relay Arm Collars from cracking.

Then, I'll see how (titanium nitrided) titanium parts hold up.

Shit! Dude is selling a new grade 5 titanium RZV "Special Nut".

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/351256424750?_mwBanner=1

Can't buy it, though. Need to get these parts figured out.

The new RZV engine is sold and going back to the motherland.

I might have been able to get this engine for full price, or may have had to outbid the Japanese buyer. Hope it doesn't come back to haunt me later, but it probably will.

67 year-old guy wants to finish his RZV project of 25 years. Can't feel bad about that. Good luck, my dude!
