I was looking for some high temp power coatings recently and ran across some air-dry ceramic coatings they have now. No special tools to apply, but you do still have to cure it in an oven. Not sure if doing it in the house oven is OK, or if there would be a fume issue.

I think it was powderbythepound.com that hadit.

Little side project I got going on in case I ditch the van during the mail run somewhere no one can come help in reasonable time. I call it the extractor.

Be very careful when using that Matti. Rig up a remote to it if you don't have one already, and stand behind something solid (car door panels don't count for this).
That can very literally take your head off if something gives under tension.

Comes with a remote to be used from the driver seat, well aware of the whiplash effect, even says in the instructions to place a heavy mat or sth similar on the tensioned cable to stop the slash in case the cable happens to break. This is like a last ditch effort for those times when no one can come help me in a reasonable timeframe, sort of like a life insurance, nice to have hope to never actually need it.

I wouldn't worry about it popping off. Those hitches grasp strong and reliable. He'll be putting tension on it in the same direction it's designed to pull, so not against the lock. Even against the lock I've seen large enclosed trailer push the tow rig over in a jackknife situation.
