got in on a trade. motor is 79 kz650(title says that also)

def not a kz frame at least most of it
I'm thinking this is a mix of 2 frames ...or 3(hardtail part)

kz tank doesn't fit. I made one fit.

the neck......had a vin. its been painted and painted and sanded :/
I can make out....*kz* and that's it. the rest is blur. so the neck is KZ....

I would like to know so I can get a tank that fits. guy had a sportster tank on it(I don't like those)

Ahh a "Stock Kawasaki" UJM Frame with welded on hardtail. Just a guess really.

From the looks of it, they reused the steering tube and swingarm pivot area and fabbed the rest. It also looks as if they ground the welds flush which concerns me. That and drilling holes in the backbone tube without sleeving them.

Looks like a bunch of KZ650 crap welded together. I've got a properly done 4 lower, 6 over '77 KZ650 I built with a good friend, just gotta drop in the engine and wiring into it and it's ready for the street. Your bike looks sketchy at best. Might want to really give it a fine tooth comb going over before you put too many miles on it. I've ridden, and built worse though, so it could be fine for decades to come.

The entirety of choppers as a segment have given birth to some of the most terrifying and dangerous creations every to be ridden on public roads. At this point I'm so unsurprised by the stuff people do to live a goofball lifestyle as a rider, that your bike looks like a decent machine by comparison. I've pulled far worse than your bike out of quite a few barns. If I ever fire up my old computer I'll share some pictures of the horror shows I've found in recent years.

What scares me is wondering what welds look like under all the Bondo. I've seen some seriously sketchy ones.

A steering damper dampens steering oscillations. If it starts to leak, it may become a steering dampener. There's no such thing as a dampner.
