Hey All,

I'm Doug. I joined CF late 2007 and found there is no other forum site quite like it on the internet and I've joined quite a few motorcycle and car/truck forums.

I'm currently a design engineer for a small manufacturing company outside of St. Louis, Missouri. I have an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree in the same.

I got into motorcycles in my early teens while cleaning up my father's 1973 Kawasaki Z1-900 and 1978 Kawasaki Kz650 (my first real streetbike). I picked up my 1978 Kawasaki Kz1000 when I was 15 and still have it to this day (20 years later). I started out liking cafe bikes of the '60's and 70's and the streetfighter bug hit in the early 2000's when I found some German sites featuring a lot of tricked out Z1's/Kz's. It wasn't soon after that I started modding my Kz to have 17" wheels and other tidbits. I'm on my 4th or so version of my Kz and still love it.

I'm pretty much self-taught when it comes to fabrication skills. I've taken one short machining class and watched a bunch of car How-To shows on cable TV. I only bought my small lathe in the last 5 years and a vertical mill in the last 2 years so I'm pretty new when it comes machining to some of the other members and their abilities.

I will help wherever I can and can usually refer you to a good info source if I don't know. This forum has a large volume of informative posts so searching can turn up a lot of answers for common questions.

Later, Doug

Matti from Finland.

Owner, founder and CEO of a transport company, sounds a lot better than truck driver AND a paper pusher. Been on two wheels from about 9 or 10 years old when I got my first Yamaha PeeWee, after that a few mopeds, two '89 Honda NS125r:s that ended up as one, a Cagiva Freccia C12r that was my first streetfighter although I didn't build it as such myself (but did swap a plated frame on it ) First big bike was a '91 CBR F2, single seat tail, dual mufflers, riser clipons but kept it's skirt on, sold it to pay for the paintwork on the trumpet, still wish I didn't have to... Always on the lookout for the next thing to have fun with, currently trying to find out some sort of a reverse trike or a caterham 7 I can afford before my hands prevent me from riding streetbikes. Hell you might even see me on a custom shortly...that is until I chop it up and turn it into a cafe

Trained as an electronics technician but never worked a single day as one although it has saved me from many a stew around different vehicles. Guitarist, luthier, jeweler, kitesurfer, homebrewer, mechanic, backyard inventor... guess what I'm trying to say is I'm an expert on starting out new exiting things but very rarely actually see anything through
