Sympul's SV650 build project

Greetings all in CustomFighter-land.

I have my first riding season almost under my belt on the SV. And with the cold weather approaching sooner then it does for our neighbors in the South, I've started to plan a couple of mods for the winter.

Yes, I know about the Winter Build-off, but my skills and my projects are no where near what it would take to play with those guys. (I'm not being modest, I really am that bad.)

So, this is what I have planned:

- new front signal lights
- new rear signal lights
- new plate holder
- bar end mirrors (my wife stole my stock ones for her scooter.)

and if I'm feeling Adventurous...

- chopped stock can
- relocate key ignition
- new headlight
- new gage (or modify the stock one.)

... but those are a ways down the road as yet.

I've been lurking in a bunch of threads and have a bunch of ideas based off of others hard work. (plus, I stole pics too!!) I'll try and give credit for the ideas to the people who came up with them first, but if I forget, or can't remember the person's name then it's not meant deliberately.

Stay tuned to this station for more updates, a lot of swearing and stupid questions, and a couple of pictures of an untalented man, with no garage and only a pockets worth of tools trying to make his way in the Fighter-World.

and for no reason at all, here's a picture of me as a zombie!

that wheel kit is from luis on svrider. i believe the front sprocket also has to be flipped backwards to align correctly. there is a huge thread about it over there.

but seriously we need to talk. i think we can help each other out. you got a pm sir.

#31 ·
... and thank you for the pm Sir!

Yea, I spend too much time here and not enough time on SVRider. Mostly because I like the crowd here better, but I'm biased because I started here I guess.

I just found the thread you're talking about, now I have to find the time to mine through the 41 pages to find the nuggets. lol.

Thx for the info, and the hookup, let's do this!

MOAR PARTS!!

So, I gots some moar pix... none of the stuff on the bike though.

Front forks from Denv... at my house!!

(notice the shopping list on the fridge?)
:D

^^That's my puppy Greyson, he's a Scottish Terrier. (little dog frame, big dog set of teeth) He hasn't ridden on the bike, he prefers to ride in the car where he can hop from lap to lap and lean into the corners. (not that I'd ever ride with him on the bike... 'cause where the Fuck would you find a helmet for a dog?)

And... I just picked up an '06 GSXR 600 rear wheel from badfish816 here on CF.

Pic posted below in 'badfish816's reply.

And more parts porn...

(All this stuff has been ordered, but not received so these are either just the stock pics or the ones I got from the seller.)

Bar end mirrors... HK special ($15.00 for a PAIR!!)

Another HK special... shorty levers ($56.00)
I went with the black on black (in the red box) because I haven't picked a bike color yet, and black goes with everything. :D

//side note//
I fookin' LOVE how easy it is to put pics on this site. Another forum I'm on makes you host it on photobucket / flicker / etc... and then link that in your post, and that's just a pain in the ass. All I want to do is put up a pic not design a fookin' web page.
So in conclusion of this side note, thx CF, you make the hard shit easy so we can get back to D'ing W, or masturbating in Denv's case. HA!
//end side note//

I also picked up an under-tail for the SV. Complete with signal lights and everything.

Hotbodies undertail ($276.00 on their website)(stock photo)

... and the actual item ($85.00) :)

It'll have to get sanded down and sprayed again, but that's small potatoes.

I also have a line on a Corbin front seat that I found on KIJIJI, got the pics, so now I just have to arrange a pick up time and hand the guy some $.

Corbin seat $150.00 (new, $320.00!!)

This was Great!!

I was finding gems all over the place, deals, steals, nice people, etc... I was high on life.

... Then I got the 'Buy Me' bug bad...
Even though I have a mostly complete front end from Denv, I went and picked up another one.
Why?
Because I like the caliper mounts better.... how silly is that?

So now I have an '06 GSXR 600 front (forks, bottom trip, stem, etc...) on it's way to live with me.

Pics courtesy of Sweist

THEN... i justify it to myself by saying:

"self, you're going to do another project eventually, and you'll want USD's on it when you do, so just think of this as an investment, or you can just turn around and sell which ever ones are the least complete."

And then I smile at myself and nod because I'm such a smart guy.

So now, I have to find:
  • an '01 GSXR front rim and rotors (to finish off the 1000 front end) (*edit, found a rim / rotors / axle on ebay, pix below. )
OR
  • an '06 GSXR front rim, with rotors, axle, and a top triple to finish off the 600 front end. (*edit, found all the parts, pix in a later post.)

Sigh... there goes the next paycheck.

There's a couple of deals on eBay I'm still looking at, so the missing part for the TWO front ends should be wrapped up soon. Maybe, unless someone out bids me. :(

Anyway, more pics to come when I actually get the parts in my hot little hands.

Stay Tooned!!

01-03 GSXR 600 (same model # as 01-04 GSXR 1000)

well quite fucking lurking and do some digging:fu:
bike is coming along nicely btw!

#40 ·
you've definitely been on a buying frenzy! I've been debating going 1000 or 600 front end - let me know which ever you picked.

Also I have similar bar end mirrors and I can't get them to stay mounted. Since they have a 'screw' type setup, if you move them just a little bit you basically start un-screwing them.

Hell I'll just subscribe. haha

Le-sigh...

So, I was watching eBay and found a top triple for the '06 front end I have. I contacted the seller, asked if he shipped to Canada, (because his listing only had the US on it) he replied: yes, and I placed my bid. There were no previous bids and there was only 11 minutes left in the auction.

So I surf a bit, and check back, no new bids, just mine.

and I surf a bit more, and check again, still just me with a bid.

and as I'm watching the seconds tick down from 00:00:30 ... a co-worker comes by and asks me a question, I answer him we make some small talk and he leaves.

I turn around and I FUCKING LOST THE BID!!

Some dick-hole sniped my part, for a single dollar more!

... to the eBay Sniper... here's to you sir: :fu:

That website is evil I say.

oh, and then I turn around and won another bid for a set of calipers for the '06 front end. :D

Pics!!

... they're missing a banjo bolt, and there's no brake lines to go with them, but they have mostly new pads, and they were only $65.00 shipped!

(I figure I'll just re-use my SV steel braided lines that are on the bike already)

Today I've won my first bid, and lost my first bid. I'm at 50% with auctions right now... hehehehehe.

oh well, that'll teach me for not putting in a max bid.

(btw, the top triple was going for $39.99)

I'll post more drama when it happens!

so did the wheel show up? it says it was delivered on the 15th

#50 · (Edited)
I'll have to check with the Wife as I've been away from home this week.

The tracking info says it was delivered, so my money is on 'YES'.

:D

*EDIT
Yea, I just talked to her, she said that she picked up "some big round thingy from the post office". (girls, they're so cute...)

I'll post up pics laterz.

AND MOAR PIX!!

here's the seat I found / bought on KIJIJI... and the puppy dog. (he likes pictures)

and the '06 GSXR 600 rear wheel with rotor and sprocket from badfish... (more puppy dog)

The top triple and risers from Endo... :D

and the SECOND front end, this one being the '06 GSXR 600 from sweist...

... still looking for a top triple clamp, but you're on my short list badfish.

And finally, my CUSTOM FIGHTERS Hoodie!!
(this simple garment is good for +10 armor in the event of a high / low side, and if you're seen by the opposite sex when wearing it, it will elevate you TWO FULL LEVELS above what you could normally score with) In the daylight, I'm a solid '4', but when I'm wearing this, I'm a prime '6'... maybe even a '7', depending on if you saw me ride in or not.

*DISCLAIMER, this will not work on members of the SAME sex, so what ever happens, is the beer's fault. :D

I have some more stuff in the mail, and on it's way, but I've already posted them.

Once I win a few more bids I have in on eBay, I'll post up some more pics.

I sure wish I could start bolting a lot of this stuff on. But I'll have to suck it up and plan my moves (mods / upgrades) carefully so I don't screw up a relatively short riding season by having my bike up on blocks all the time.

Is that an 04 05 600 top triple?

#55 · (Edited)
I believe it'll fit a 2001 GSXR 1000 set of forks, let me look up what the specs are for the 04-05 600...

*EDIT: I was wrong...
Here's the triple. I do have it for sale in another thread but if someone buys these forks, they get it for free.

2001 GSXR750 Top Triple Clamp with 2 Bolt Risers - Same risers pictured above. Mounts were drilled and tapped into the clamp by my friend Derek at Trillion Industries. They are perfectly centered and very strong.

... actually it looks like everything is good except for the off set.

00-03 GSXR 750 = top: 50mm, offset: 32mm (*offset was still the same though.)
04-05 GSXR 600 = top: 50mm, offset: 30mm

^^ not sure if the off set will mean that you can't slide the forks into the upper triple. I'd test it for you, but I'm not at home at the moment. Sorry Fishy.

Sympul

#56 ·
Ya the offset is different. 04 05 600 top triple will fit on the 06 07 600 but you need to drill the center hole out to get the right offset.

Big thanks to Badfish for helping me with my ebay issues.

I'm still buying shit, so I'll be posting more parts porn as they start coming in.

THANKS FISHY!!
