actually... im going to try something today

i'm going to try cracking the water drain at the bottom of the tank so it's ever so slightly hissing... and see if that will expel some of the water before it gets to the gun

Wow, that rim was naaaaasty. I love the results from sandblasting. I hate doing the actual sandblasting, but you can't beat the results, that's for sure.

Seeing these results makes me want to make the blast cabinet even more now. Using your 48x72x33 dimensions I can't fit it anywhere in the garage other then in the rafters. That got me thinking... what if I put another piece to the top instead of just one huge slant like you did and I removed the legs entirely, how tall do you think it would be then? ~4'? If so I could maybe get away with suspending it from the rafters in the garage and using a chain hoist to raise and lower it when I want to use it. When I lower it I can either just let it hang and deal with the little movement I would get or I can have 2x4 sticking out from the sides so I can rest it on saw horses. Can you give me an idea of how much your cabinet weighs with the blast media in it? ~120#?

Doing that sure would be a lot easier then making the collapsable blast cabinet I was talking to another CF member about.

I can tell you that blasting with a hanging device would piss me off to no end. I rely on the relative sturdiness of the unit for many things... like wrestling with items in the cabinet. It's actually quite a workout to sandblast. I expected it to be easy as pie but it's not. Once the item is in place it goes smooth but you have to move it around a lot.

If you could drop it onto legs that would be sweet

just as a note ive used playsand from the hardware store before with decent results on painted surfaces(not powdered). You need to dry it out first on a tray in an oven because there is a lot of moisture.

Good work luke!
