Picked it up yesterday... trucked it home to save the tires, but took it for a test spin when I got back and holy fuck, this thing will rip your face off. Seems you don't need big numbers when it weighs fuckall.

There was a bad spot around 3300RPM that's completely gone now, and a really bad spot at 5700ish that's mostly gone. Not super impressed with their work on the top end, but realistically this thing redlines at like 8k and 95% of the riding is between 3k-5k, so no major complaints here.

The OEM claimed numbers on this bike are 90hp/76lb-ft... at the crank, at sea level.
Reading 85/71 at the wheel, at 5300' elevation, on a 30k mile engine... not too bad, I think.

This is very definitely the most fun bike I've ever ridden. You should all go out and get one

Good stuff, man. Light and torquey are the key to happiness. So, what does that thing weigh?

I'm not entirely sure. OEM spec is 390lbs, and I've shaved a decent chunk off that. Some bits have been outright removed, everything plastic is now carbon, Shorai battery dropped like 8lbs off, exhaust shaved 15lbs or so from OEM and I think I can do better there by ditching the (disabled) valve and maybe one of the cans, losing the airbox for stacks bought me 3lbs.
So around 30lbs under stock in current setup.

Next big ticket item is swapping the steel subframe for alum which will drop another 10lbs or so. There's one on eBay I'm trying to get my hands on but if the guy doesn't take my offer I'll just make my own. Also gonna take a page from Smoker's book and swap in some Ti fasteners.
Been thinking about giving the big plastic fuel cell and a case of beer to the composites dept at work and seeing if they can come back with a carbon cell too.

That's just about all that can be done for this bike on the weight-shaving front, short of some BST wheels but mine are magnesium already so not a huge savings to be had there. Could also swap out the engine for the one out of the 1100 EVO which is about 10lbs lighter due to cases and crank and such, but that might be a bit excessive.

Had some free time today, ran off a quick doodad on one of the manual mills.

Probably one of those "nobody looking at the bike would ever notice" things, but the seat has always sat just a little bit too far aft leaving more of a gap at the front than I'd like (it slots in at the front and has a single M6 at the back to secure it).
Now, it won't.

New version is also lighter, because aloomnum... every cunthair counts!

Plate sat too far out and was made of heavy steel, so I fixed that.
The new Hyper has the big OEM whale tail on it, so it'll get the one I'm pulling from this one. Trickle-down economics at work.

Mailman had a special delivery yesterday.

But he bitched out because we got some snow, so I went and picked em up today.

Not a direct fit. The rotors are a different bolt pattern, the front is narrower at the bearings, and the rear is fouling against the caliper. But for what I got em for, I'm willing to do a little fightering to get em mounted.

Weighed with tires, I'm going from 16.4lbs to 14.2lbs on the front and from 20.8 to 18.8 on the rear.

Yeah, I've seen them too. The only place I know of that ever made them is NCR, and they cost NCR money, and finding one available for sale is next to impossible. Don't recall exactly how much they are but I do recall they charge $700 for their Ti gas cap. Dunno who the fuck buys that shit.
