Default 2012 Yamaha R1 rear shock dimensions

Dont know if anyone needs it but the 2012 Yamaha r1 shock is high speed and low speed adjustable. Has adjustable rebound and hydraulic preload. It makes a pretty good retrofit if you need something adjustable without paying megabucks for a name brand.

Some stats
Its 300mm eye to eye. The eyes are 10mm.
It takes a 55mm id spring thatís 6.5 inches long when uncompressed.
Im swaping it in to my Ninja 650, ive bought an Eibach spring 600.225.1100 and its about 0.5 inches too short but needs collars to fit up as its larger id(58mm ish). Ive taken the bushings out and replaced them with an off the shelf spherical bearing on the bottom(reservoir end) 26mm OD, 12mm ID. The top end is a needle bearing 25mm OD 12mm ID 24mm wide.
Ive measured everything on the shock, but if somethings missing let me know...

Its worth noting that the bottom bushing near the reservoir is a spherical bearing 26mm OD and 14mm ID. The original bearing has two top hat bushings pressed i from either side and these extend inside the OD of the bearing to narrow it down to 10mm. If you have 14mm bolts for your shock then you can likely just knock the top hats out and use as is. I did it the hard way removing the spherical bearing and replacing with a new one with the correct ID for me(12mm)
Many people on Versys forums just press in some PU bushings...

I'd be surprised if the damping rates on the R1 shock are reasonable for the Versys. The R1 spring is 10kg/mm while the Versys wants somewhere on the order of 17kg/mm. I'd want to revalve it too.

A steering damper dampens steering oscillations. If it starts to leak, it may become a steering dampener. There's no such thing as a dampner.

Youíre more than likely right. Do you think its an insurmountable problem?

I cant comment yet personally as I havenít ridden with it on the bike, however most people who do the swap (its a common mod) swear blind that although its way off its still much better than the standard effort from Kawasaki. They could all of course be absolutely mad

Once its on the bike ill comment, My intention is to ride it as is before sending it off to be revalved.

I suspect it can be revalved to work reasonably.

As is, there's a good chance having the clickers full stiff won't be enough.
