Questions:

I have my eye on a '67 C10 with a "crate engine" 350 small block. Guy says the trans is OK, but no OD. Also says a swapped intake increased vacuum and caused the trans to have to have the engine revved to engage in gear, and toggles back and forth between 2nd and 3rd. I can get a TH700 for cheapo ($200-$300), and a rebuild kit for under $150.

My questions are:

1 - I'd have thought an increased vacuum would have allowed to slip in gear EASIER, but the 2nd/3rd issue I'm unsure of. Does this sound more like too much vacuum, or a leak due to an incorrectly installed intake (which is what I'm thinking)?

2 - If I do decide to go with a TH700 for the overdrive, is there a cross ref I can use to see what fits based on block numbers from the engine??

Thanks in advance experts.
