I had an 02 ninja 250 was fun until I took it on a 7 hour trip highway back roads mixed it sucked. It was comfortable and fun to run around town but I would never take it on the highway

I had a new gen ex250. It was underpowered so you have to shift a lot to keep it wound up. Which causes lower MPG compared to a larger displacement Vtwin or p twin.

I have a XB9s now and couldn't be happier.

Aint nutin wrong with em, had me a 94 250 ninja back n the day, jetted, k&N air filter, some extra holes in the air box and the uber rare muzy full exhaust (2-1) running 93 octane, with synthetic oil, stock gearing, and properly synced carbs it would run every bit of 110, bit buzzy at 70 on the highway though. Good bike, nearly bullet proof, easy to learn on, just fast enough to get you ino trouble, or out of of it (but just barely, think.....cnt hair barely)

A 500EX nets you loads more useable power, same weight, basicly the same look , same reliability, just more grunt.

Well, i rid a 2012 cbr 250r and a 2009 ninja250. If it werent for the cold weather i would of had a fucking blast. After that i determined that although the cbr looks nicer (except for that ugly/huge muffler) the ninja rides better to me. After doing some research i decided on a 2013 ninja300

Oh, man i cant wait!!!

Default Re: ninja 250 opinions

I have both a 2008 250 Ninja and a 2003 SV650. Two totally different things in my humble opinion. Hell as a matter of fact I have 2 of each of these since my wife also has a 2008 250 Ninja and my track bike is a 2006 SV650. So I guess I can claim that I kinda know what I am talking about. I have had over 50 different bikes over the years and the 250 Ninja is my all time favorite bike.

I ride the 250 more than the SV. I ride it in town, I ride it at the track and I ride it in the Mountains with my buddies, matter of fact I lead two 900 mile rides a year in the mountains with mine. I used to do it with the SV, but the 250 is way more fun. None of my buddies with the bigger bikes have ever complained that I am holding them back as a matter of fact I have to wait up for them often, specially after some really twisty sections. I only ride the SV if I know I am going to have to do long straight sections or ride on the highway.

That there is all you need to know. Get the 300 Ninja you will be happy with it. 10 more horses, slipper clutch, better tires and suspension, superbike looks. I am getting me one as soon as spring comes round.
