Went to the powdercoaters to collect.

This is how the wheels came out:

Decided to leave them in the bubble wrap for now until I get valves, disc bolts, etc.

I did fit the cush rubbers though:

The stand came out real nice:

I'm still not happy with how close the shock spring is at the front of the swingarm and looking @ photos online, I'm not convinced that other springs will be any slimmer. So I bought an FZR1000 linkage coz it appears to have the lower shock mount further back compared with my FZR400RR link:

(Photos from the internet)

I browsed @ the parts diagrams and found that both bikes share the same dogbones & lower shock bolt so I was really hopefully it would be a bolt-in.

Fail

The frame mount is much wider on the 1000.

So now I'm modifying the link to fit and waiting on a bearing:

Ordered a different shock to try too.....

Here's some shitty photos of the powdered subframe test fitted:

It fits

The tank to frame rubbers are NLA and only came on this bike - can't find any - so I got some cheap ones for a KTM which I'll make work.

FZR1k link done:

It's a beast compared to the 400RR link.

New shock came in:

09-12 ZX6R.

The length is spot on. The mounts are the same width but M10 instead of M12. The spring is fat.

It nearly fits as good as the first one

It's definitely possible. I could easily take enough off the arm to clear the spring but there is a rubber seal that sits on the lip around the shock aperture:

If I take some metal off the arm, this seal won't have much to sit on.

I have contemplated taking off some metal and then having it welded shut to stop shit getting in here:

(Spare arm)

but I'm hoping I won't need to. The spring is close to touching at full droop but with the engine in and a bit of sag, I might be ok

Is that not a strengthening rib rather than just a lip for the seal?

Default Re: FZR 600 RR Build

Was gonna make a number plate holder but got this one cheap coz it looks like shit and the indicators are broken:

I like the shape of the stock lights but they're heavy:

I was really impressed with the Spirit Beast indicators I got for the YZ so I got some similar ones for this:

I'll make up some brackets from aluminium and get them mounted:

I was reading about a guy who built one of these hybrids and he said it shakes it's head pretty bad sometimes so I've decided a steering damper is a good idea for this.
So I made a bracket:

The way I've built it, the bracket can't rotate once the vertical bolt is installed.

Just need a stainless spacer turned up.

It's definitely structural but I'd only need to take a small amount off it for clearance but that small amount is what the seal sits on.
