New clocks for an old bike

Hi all, sorry couldn't find the info through searching.

I have a Kawasaki GT500 from 1990. I want to fit new clocks, preferably cheap ones as I won't do many miles on it. My main question is can I hook up the mechanical speedo drive to a digital clock? I see most of them have a mechanical speedo drive which I assume fits to the drive already on my front wheel?

Most modern bikes have an electronic pickup at the wheel (or countershaft) rather than a mechanical drive to the speedo.

The easiest option is probably a TrailTech Vapor, but they aren't exactly good. I tried a China Koso knockoff on my SV650 a few years ago and it worked for a while and then stopped.
