Hey, spent a whole morning reading your chopper build, ground up is an understatement, great pictures, .....but what happened after page 14?, did you finish?

With all the I beam welding how do you avoid warping and twisting? skill or talent?

I have been fabricating since very young. When welding a frame it is not will it distort but, how to make it distort and be straight. You weld everything a certain way, weld one side quickly flip weld the other way. It is controlled warping so to say. When you weld the frame together you weld center first, then back towards the tail. Then towards the neck whatever you do to one side you do as fast as possible to the other.

At the very end once everything else has cooled. You release pressure on the neck cones and see if you need to refit the neck to be straight. If u have done it right you will not have to. Then controlled warping the neck welds.

This is the reason you will never seen me engineer a frontend until after the frame is off the jig. Then I know the true rake having rear wheel installed.

Here is a ninja 500 bike I did.

The forum is for the chopper builders handbook. There is info on frame and frontend building there.

I just like motorcycles, I like my bikes different than others is all. I like all motorcycles. It is a bit of a addiction. The street fighter is just something to drag around with me while I travel for work.

Hope that awnsered all questions most likely just created more LOL.

I got maybe 3 or 4 more hours in today then I see cords showing on rear tire. I have blown rear tire before and that is not fun. I decide lets find a shop here in town. I am over a hour away at 80 mile per hour from hotel.

Well first place I went guys got me in under half a hours time and had a speed rated sport tire in stock. This is very rare to find anyone here that will work on a motorcycle on the same day, let alone get it back in 2 weeks. They did mark the tire up but, I was riding back safe. I threw the Tech a 20 to buy his lunch and drove off. After paying for overpriced new tire and service.

Then my radiator started leaking after visiting Lincoln Tomb and Monument. The fan come to find out cut into the radiator. Got a new radiator coming be here next week. And a new style of fan.

Pictures

Local air field and museum.

Ignore the signs saying only air field personel. They apparently do not mind you blasting down the runways. Only thing that happens is a old guy on a mower waves at you.

Painting on side of a bar on route 66.

A old truck that needs dust blown off it.

The Lincoln monument.

I stopped off the highway 25 miles from hotel when bike hit 226 degrees. I waited for it to cool before putting water in radiator and it poured right back out. I got Lucky and a guy drove me the last 30 min to get my truck and load the bike.

I've been reading through your linked build thread, you did a lot of work there. Did you ever finish it?

A steering damper dampens steering oscillations. If it starts to leak, it may become a steering dampener. There's no such thing as a dampner.
