Default Cyclops LED headlights

There's a ton of LED replacement bulbs out there for the common headlight sizes, namely, H4 or H7 for motorcycles. My new Beta comes with a total tokenism of a headlight. It's one of the shitty H1S (it's like a H4, but only 35w instead of 55), in a tiny reflector, so it's pretty much a joke for night riding. Being a dirt bike it has a very minimal stator, only 50w, and it also has a taillight and ECU to power.

The Cyclops line seemed well reviewed, so ordered up their H4 replacement bulb, plus a plug-n-play rectifier since the Beta supplies AC power to the headlight. Their bulb has a heatsink with a tiny fan, with the wire coming out the side. It doesn't really stick out of the housing any more than the connector would on a regular bulb, so fitment shouldn't be much of a problem. The wire goes to a driver box, which has another short pigtail to the H4 connector you'd plug into the bike. On an AC bike, the rectifer goes in between the driver and bike's headlight connector. The claim it draws 20w on low and 40w on high.

The bulb itself is amazingly bright, damn near blinding. So far, it's the best LED replacement Ive seen that actually offers a decent low-beam cutoff. The light pattern was like a shallow "U" shape on low, with high beam filling in the center of the "U". It blows HID's away. They include some little cardboard spacer rings which they say can improve the light pattern in some headlight shapes, though I didn't mess with them.

Unfortunately the Beta has such a limited stator, on high beam it couldn't keep the voltage high enough for the driver, causing it to flicker. Called up Cyclops, they confirmed it sounded like insufficient power output (event though it's only 5w more than the incandescent it replaced, they said having 12+ volts is critical for the driver to work properly). They have an "off road pattern" H4 bulb that has a high and low brightness level though not a true dipped low beam. That draws only 30w, and had no problem taking a return on the one I ordered, and exchanging for that kit instead, no additional shipping or restock fees, which I was fully expecting to get banged with.

Good product, good customer service. Definitely recommended.
