Even genuine italian ones need constant maintenance, because the parts are so small. Chinese ones can have the weirdest problems. I started with a water cooled Blata knock off back in the day. It had a hair between the carb needle valve leading all the gas in the tank to flood on the floor over night. One of the water hose nipples didn't have a hole all the way through. Front brake caliper slider bolt was glued stuck. Coolant reservoir cap was assebled wrong, so it didn't hold any pressure.

I've had a Baja DR70 for years. It's made with cheaper components, but has been operational with a little maintenance. Honda parts are cheap and bolt on.
