I hardly ever use my strop. I picked up an old Raven Barber hone on eBay for cheap years ago and just touch up the blade a few times per year. A good blade like yours will hold it's edge well if not over sharpened. And my beard is tough. I started using these razors years ago because 1 Mach3 blade would go dull only shaving half my face. A strop wouldn't hurt, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Oh, and these Solingens will rust. They are a grade of stainless, but keep it dry anyway, especially around the hinge where water hides.

Thanks for the info! Ive been using dollar shave club forever (good stuff really) but theres something cool about an actual straight razor. Any recommendation for soap? or do you use regular shaving cream? I heard its a bit rougher on the face than the regular razors.

I have a strop you can have if you want it, its leather and nylon. I would strop before and after each shave when i was shaving with my straight razor. I also have a boars hair brush if you want that too. I don?t shave anymore so I don?t need any of it.

There is a learning curve but its the best dang shave you will ever have when you do it right. Baby butt smooth

You guys are a brave bunch. Might be because I have a fear for blades but I could never ever shave with a straight razor, and would be a grueling experience to let someone else do it. They would most likely end up cutting me because I flinced.

Well, if youre not using it Ill take it off your hands. saves me from searching through ebay later. How stiff is the brush?

Trust me its not bad at all, you hold it at a very low angle, almost flat against your face, and the hardest part (for me at least) was the chin area. Keep it sharp and burr free and your good to go. I used a good soap from dr. Harris and it lasted forever

I meant to say that its badger hair, i would say its about a medium softness. I?m headed out of town right now so i wont be able to look at the brand or anything till i get back Sunday but i know it was a decent quality brush
