Spending at least 10 minutes a day on this. Even if it’s just go over my todo list.

More work on fender brackets today. Taking it slow and trying to make them look a bit better than my gross headlight brackets.

They’re ~70mm c2c on the eyes. After I shot this I finished shaping them, smoothed them out a bit, cleaned, primed, and put a coat of acrylic lacquer on them.

Still just making parts from scraps laying around. Seriously contemplating turning some 3D printer parts into a baby cnc mill for small parts.

While those started drying I got to fixing a few cheap solder jobs on my wiring from my first rebuild. Fitting a few automotive style waterproof connectors instead of the bulky trailer harness wiring I used before.

Next will either be getting the grommets for the swing arm holes in place or getting the brackets I’m making installed so I can get measurements for the second set of fender brackets

My hack job on this s1k fender?

And a shot of how I used the brackets I made.

Using those fairing clips for the nut to the bolt. This old box of hardware I bought on eBay has more than paid for itself at this point. So many useful random fasteners.

Now Iím taking a minute to clean my work area. Can see the project better when there isnít piles of tools, bolts, used black tape, bits of wire, etc to distract it.

Speaking of distractions. In moving ďgarage stuffĒ to the garage, I found an old drag pipe baffle and mounted it in the link pipe before the can. Pretty sure I have hearing damage in my right ear from the exhaust on this bike.

I anticipate having to cut it shorter and wrap it in some packing... itís gotta be better than having this bazooka of an exhaust a meter from my ear.

And now to finish cleaning and see if I can sort some tail light mounts... or maybe Iíll go hide from the noise in the basement. We have new neighbors that like the loudest of the loud fireworks and it seriously seems like they spent a couple grand on them.

I hid from the noise rather than work on it more last night. Updated Path of Exile and kept the cat company till it died down enough for me to sleep.

Today tho...
The Wrappening has started

Laid the harness out on the bike so I knew where to put shit and got to stripping bits of old yucky tape starting from the front and working my way back.
Started with 3M Self-Adhesive tape for a mostly water tight wrap of the exterior wiring that goes up to the clocks. When I got into the interior parts I moved to Tesa 51036 except where waterproofing is needed. Probably should do a layer of 51036 in possible friction zones too.

Neat

All these little metal clips were missing. Used for 4 connectors so far. IAT, and the 3 injectors. Maybe more. Too hot to dig more. Also, took way too long to figure out that they're referred to as fuel injector clips but this exact type wasn't used very much. Late 90 Triumph, and some 280z's, a few Mitsus, smattering of others...

A friendo pointed me at these https://www.autozone.com/screws-pins...clip/79660_0_0
They were in stock at a local store. Just cut them a smidge and good to go.

Picked up some maintenance needs as well. Vacuum lines, oil, coolant, brake fluid, etc.

More wiring when it's under 100F in the garage... Supposed be below 90F this weekend.

you got it sorted but for anyone else, these are super common on most older euro cars. if you cant find them anywhere else, any junkyard with an old vw or benz will be a good source.

So there ended up being a few of these

Amusingly, I found 3 of the original clips AFTER I finished this.

"Finished" the wiring.

I'm sure I'll have to "fix" something to make the tank or airbox fit.

BUT IT'S DONE!

That wiring harness has been in bits for 5 or 6 years.

Update the todo. Found at least one vacuum line split.

Default Re: Ahks' "Not a Speed Triple"

Rebuilding some random Aprilia RSV4 and/or Tuono turn signals I found cheap on ebay.

The ambers are in great condition, just with the wires removed. Perfect besides that.
The clears look like they were in a flood with a light coating of mud inside the housings and corroded wires.

So new wires and a freshening are in order.

Anyone know where to find just the lenses for Aprilia turn signals? Having them be mismatched will drive me nuts. I've also read that some used the same turn signal as some Speed Triple? I'll look into that more...

If they ever got installed on the wrong side, the drain hole becomes a fill hole.

Thankfully I noticed that

[✓] Turn signal wiring (using spade connectors till I can find the right bullet connectors, but they'll plug in)

Rear end.
[..] Seat, staple up my old Corbin (Gotta dig up staples for my hammer stapler, not sure that will drive staples into the fiberglass seat pan. Worst case I dig out the rivet gun)
[✓] Tail light mount
[✓] Turn signals mounts
[✓] License hanger (Built an overly complicated way to mount the turn signals and plate. Sorted the tail light. Shits gonna be mostly stock for now. I'll get some pictures when I push the bike into the sun this weekend)

Other
[..] Coolant reservoir (found an abandoned aluminum water bottle but thinking something smaller, maybe a flask, that can fit in the tail is a better choice)
[..] Brakes flush
[..] Oil change
[✓] Silicone vacuum tube (wewt, the "little" check valves are like 10mm-11mm on one end. Getting the vacuum line over it was effort.)
[..] Torque everything Iíve touched (I forgot to tighten the swing arm pinch bolt once...)

Bike is insured and registered for the first time since... 2014? New personalized plate ordered since the TRPL plate was unregistered long enough that it fell off the states database.

Did some more wire routing in anticipation of having a battery in it. Including a bit of upgrade for the starter cable that I should have done first time around.

New is 4 awg. Popped the end into the vice. Warmed it up a bit with a MAPP gas torch. Fed a pile of solder into it while holding the copper in the flame. Once everything was hot, and before the rosin from the solder was burned off, I jammed (gently... that much molten solder looked like it would hurt) the copper into the fitting.

Made one for battery to solenoid, and one for solenoid to starter. The remainder of my 4ga wire is a few inches too short for the ground wire. Hopefully I'll have that by the time I can spend another few hours in the garage.

Some time this week I'll also start moving shit around so the airbox and tank will fit properly. Need to google up a few picture of how the wiring was laid in this thing. Maybe that will show me where the tank and airbox sits before I can put hands on it again.
