So I took the punisher for a rip the other day. Clutch was slippin like a bastard!! 6500RPM and the motor would rev out. Long story short, the guys at the CB forum brought me up to speed with a clutch mod to straighten out the situation. I am installing 1100 springs, 1100 lifter plate, new EBC plates and bead blast the steals for better friction. It was also reccomended to plug an oil hole somewhere in the clutch to reduce the oil in the basket, but I may skip that.

Ok, I have almost everything I need to do the clutch upgrade. Just waiting on the 1100 lifter plate. And I have to run down to the Honda dealer and get one of those special tools for removing the clutch nut.

Motorcycle...check

Parts...check

May as well get her started. Cant go any further without that clutch nut tool.

I've popped many a CB clutch nut loose with a flat blade(to straighten the lack tab) and a sturdy pair of needle nose pliers. Just grab two notches with the pliers and turn it with the flat blade. Works every time. No waiting on special tools. Just a thought Killer bike dude. Very, very nice!

Thanx for the comp.

I straightened out the locking tab. That clutch nut is on there pretty tight. I am not picturing how that bugger would turn with a pait of needle nose?? I can picture grabbing the the slots like you say, but how could you get any torque on those needle nose??

I will take a look at it. May file down a socket as a guy on the CB forum suggested. I will let ya know.

I use the needle noses to grab two of the tangs on the nut. Then I use a heavy flat blade to twist the pliers. I have also just used a punch and tapped the nut loose also. There's a convex washer behind there that maintains tension on the nut and clutch hub. It makes the nut feel tighter than it actually is. No need to run that sucker back down real tight at all. Spark plug tight then shoot for the next available locking tang.

Of course, using the right tool for the job is never bad either!

Especially if yer a pussy.

Jk . Ill stop thread jacking now.

Got the clutch nut off using a drift...tap,tap, tap, came right off.

Lookin for a little input.

What do you guys think about putting the stock tail light back in the tail and get rid of that little light I have been runnin?? I am not sure if the stocker looks a little bulky for the solo seat / tail set up...hmmmmm. Input??

It would be a very easy job. It basically slots right into the little bracts I made for the other light. Just bolt in and wire up.

With the little light.

I dig the stock light. I have a '80 F with that light and love it. Even though its HUGE!

If you wanna run the stock light and ditch the stem signals you can get a kit to convert your two bulb stock light into an integrated turn signal setup. Just wired one up on my bike last night.

I like the stocker in there. Purposefully chunky.
