I probs should post elsewhere but not sure where , I've a rolling chassis g model I'm building for the parts of this one to be put on , I'm bidding on newer forks at the moment on eBay , I plan to make my own yokes on the Cnc but I'm wanting to do a straight bar conversion , I've the birdcage holding my fairing any ideas to get around cage , i dont want to loose front fairing as I'm going semi naked so that will need trimming I guess , any help guys is highly appreciated

A lot of it is to prevent the top half from flexing too much since it's all plastic - If you look at newer bikes they don't have the 'cage' to hold it, as they reinforced the sides and made the plastic smaller/more rigid.
Perhaps you could just add some fiberglass to the few areas that would flex?

That's what I was thinking I've rode it without the Cage and it does flex and blow in the wind , you think some stiff metal like a metal ruler for example with fibreglass over it would work ? Planning to fibreglass nose to side panels anyway then trim with a belly pan

welcome to custom fighters, saw your thread over on kawiforums. ask any questions or post any issues you have here. people will answer them freely.

for the bird cage, look for a later model zx6 that has the cage inside the fairing. cant remember off the top of my head what year it was but the newer ZZR 600's use the style cage im talking about. hides away nicely and give you the strength you need too.

Yep I'm on kawiforums/bolt on forum lol , to many haters over there they don't like wheelies , I think its the j model cage i can use but if I trim panel to fit straight bars I might loose the holes for cage to mount were mirror block offs go not really sure though , thanks for advice

One fella on a Fireblade forum I frequent welded a bar from the main clocks support up to to the mirrors, really cleans up the front a lot! You could do the same.
