83 Magna v45 RUNS ON COFFEE

Got this on a trade after searching for a new build project.
its old(+) and but runs and drives(++).
I will maintain drivability while hacking and chopping at it.

this time I don't want to use the "street fighter cook book" recipe.
however many pieces and parts will go in the trash asap(today after work)
*note, please forgive me if this thread changes topic quickly about barbies, cookies or paragliding*

what I like. big radiator. shaftdriven. low seat. Honda. all original.
what I don't like. shaft driven(no change of swing) heavy, carb orientation and fork rake angle.

plans. cbr999 front. lower front. handmade seat. ditch gas tank....and use saddle tanks like a Goldwing....and then hack the rest of bike cuz I cant help it.

please insert critizism and hatred below for my ugly bike and odd speech.
progress will be posted almost daily(weekly)

mine are 37mm as per WIKI. but the plan usualy consists of using the whole front end from another bike minus the stem from the magna, make it fit. did that last time. some elbow grease and mate it together...

I can always slip these if need be. I'm wanting to drop the front however. its too high and raked.

just so you all see. stem is to short for the old frames necks.

working on removing stems from each. using Magna stem. its steel. ninja is aluminum and thicker. not sure how I affixed old stem to new tree last time.

I wont be using the top fuel tank

I make some kind of cover for it.
as it sat last night

messed with the reserve tank that il use. after fiddling with it and bolting it back on. I put too long of a bolt it and put a hole in it.....

under the red hose. just after I filled the tank to I found it...

jbwelded a nail head in it

swapped AGNATION out

this bucket of Hades needs to disappear

chopped out this magnificient piece of uselessness.

NOW time to get to work boys and girls..and the confused folk.

drilled a hole in a wood thing to pop out the old stem after grinding the weld on the bottom of it. but no lock so....chop chop chop chop chop,.

dilemma. couldn't pop ninja stem out its tree. ...taking to a shop today to press it out.
then figure out a way to make manga stem work(its skinnier) weld flange on bottom of stem ?? magna stem is steel.

problem.
so I checked my old thread. I used the R6 stem...I ground down the shaft to fit the bearings.
but this stem is just way to short. no go. cut anyways.
so...I seen a ninja 900 stem...looked longer. does anyone here have some stems laying around to measure?
il measure these 2 today.
the 04 ninja 636 is....
the 83 magna v45 is....

STEM CELL RESEARCH

went here on lunch break next door. cool place.
use lift, rent tools. ask for help etc.

used the hydro press they had in the back

lots of pressure popped it out. no way a mallet would have worked.

now the magna steel stem...

the plan is to weld a washer flange on the bottom, so it goes one way. then machine a spacer to keep stem straight and true in clamp. then put it all back together. ordered new bearings.

You could lift the rear of bike. So you can still have some ground clearance

next on agenda is drill triples to mount real handlebars(hate clip-ons)
take off carbs....
and rebuild them. they are leaking from the bottom, overflowing? float sticking?

get smaller lithium battery. make side panels from some old garbage.
rewire complete harness.

I JUST WANT TO RIDE MY BIKE :(

I hear ya. I think a thick USD upper is gonna get in to the radiator in a hurry. Unless you can find a set of yokes with some serious offset to them. Your stock yokes already seem to have a lot of offset.

:CK187: Might have to gooseneck that beast :D

Hardtail it and go attack chopper with it.

I remember that site, probably found it here, followed it until all of a sudden nothing. 3+ years with no posts :(
