90 is pretty weak, if you can go bigger I'd HIGHLY reccomend it. If you're looking to buy one, 90 amp will really limit the kind of tasks you can use it for.

I have a 115v mig that only puts out 30 amps max. I used it to weld my subframe. I practiced on some of the tubing I was going to use then cut it apart to make sure the welds looked good. It's pretty weak ,90amps would be alot better. Bigger is better when it comes to welders ,you can always adjust it down to what you need.

You guys ever hear of this Durafix stuff? Know anyone that has used it and can verify that it works?

I bought it to test out. It's just for brazing and for that it actually works really well. I attached a piece of square tube aluminum to an old subframe so I would have somewhere to put my seat latch. For that it worked great but I definitely wouldn't trust it for anything structural. You could use it to attach a bracket that would hold fairings/reservoirs or something like that.

Would a 90 amp mig welder be good enough to use to weld on new supports for a sub frame on a 88 hurricane?

I was told by the Lincoln rep himself that any welder over 100amp that is a 110v plug isn't any better than a 100. A 90a is just fine. You'll love it.

90A is, quite literally, big enough to do anything you will be doing on a bike.

Hell, with the right beveling and such it's big enough for hot rod work too. haha

It's like painting... it's ALL in the prep work.
