I got lucky for $600 picked up a Honda interceptor.. I ride to pick up the bike plastics are in really bad shape. the bike would start with starter fluid. the guy said maybe I should change the gas obviously didn't know much about carburetors. the bike has 55,000 miles with a engine in it that only has five thousand miles. after he replace the engine it say in his barn for 6 years. he couldn't figure out why the gas new spark plugs wouldn't let the bike start normally after sitting for 6 years. took me two hours to get to his house and then I threw it in my parents van. I'm not sure if I'm going to turn into a fighter or just build it back up again either way it's a new build.

Pulled the carbs and fired the old girl up this morning, changed fuel, fuel filter, and added some sea foam. She has a slight sluggish feel in mid range but she does idle and over all drive well. Brakes are good. Bought some new rubber that has to be put on Monday and started cleaning the bike up to see what else is needed.

I'm am stoked that I have a fully functional VFR. I figured for 6 hundred why not get a whole bike instead of just a single sided swing arm. I am also impressed that I got the carbs cleaned on the first run. They where a Bitch to get out and clean with pine sol. Took it for several loops stood the block and the deep mellow tone from the Yoshi exhaust was music to my ear.

Cut down the upper fairing to clean it up, which means I lost the stock blinkers. Had some extra LED so installed them.

I then cut down the rear fairing and list the blinkers, so installed LED blinkers and an rc51 led brake light.

I also cut down the exhaust and installed a bottle for an over flow while it has no side fairings.

I wasn't happy with seeing the back of the sub frame so I tried to black it out. Although it's temporary I wanted it to look a little better while I decide on fairings and subframe.

I cut down some plastic laying around and attached it at there points and heat gunned the shape a little.

Nothing that different than any other body work conversion. Used the old bracket but banged the crap out of it. Had to bend the Speedo up a little. It took a lot of measuring, cutting, etc. when the race kit arrived it was not pre drilled. I have to go back at a later time to fiberglass strengthen some spots. Will shop around for some hid fog lights to install later also. In the mean time I ask using a wave headlight under the fairing.

Made a quick 20$ exhaust to open up the tire. It is loud, but gives me the look I want until I find the right exhaust. This took around two full days of working on the bike to get it to this point.

I want to ride do the subframe swap will gadget to wait for time and money. In the mean time I raised the angle of subframe around 5 degree, but curing and making holes in upper rail that are a inch or two back. I also cut the seat down to better match fairing and kept part of original side cover for electronics.

I am waiting for my windscreen to arrive, the Ebay seller sent me colored bolts, and has not replied to my Paypal dispute yet.

Enough talk, here are Sommer pictures

A couple of projectors in that front fairing Ducati 999 style would be pretty cool!
Either way the fairings may not get too much love 'round these parts, but they do look damn good on that bike lol...

I love it. I've come to dislike fairings but that thing looks different and it looks mean. Well done. What's the plan for a headlight so it's street legal?

It should be legal, a wave headlight sits right below upper fairing until other set up is done.

Edit.. Just took it for a ride at night and the wave has good light output.

No solo cowl, plan is 04_06 r1 tail swap and under seat exhaust. Also want to upgrade forks and add different headlight.

Managed to lower the fairing some.

Bidding in some seats first then subframe when I get back from vacation.

Oh and for those that don't think this is a fighter, FU... This is all custom and has lost weight a lot of crap... More weight loss as the project moves forward!

Bad news. While camping for a week.. Severe thunder storms put the bike on its side. Put a nice dent in b the tank and cracked some parts of the fairing. Over all it held up well.. Hopping to get some funding to fix bike from insurance. Since I do all my own repairs should give me extra for the tail swap.
