Hello all.
I have a 00 929rr. When I was removing my chain for replacement, I noticed that the front sprocket has a tiny bit of play on the shaft, even though the retaining bolt is torqued down. Is this normal? Isn't this called a floating sprocket? It's kind of weird- feels like something is worn out.
If anyone knows, thanks in advance.

You see that sometimes. The older it gets the more slop you may see.

If it seems really severe, take a look at the splines on the output shaft and decide if they look damage or not. If you're super duper worried, Google a parts diagram and see if your bike is missing any parts.

Every bike I've owned has had a rattly front sprocket, tho.

Oh, if your chain needed replacing it's a good bet that the sprockets are toast, too. But you probably knew that anyway.
