Anyone heard of what front ends have been swapped on these bikes already? My buddy just bought one for dirt cheap with only 8,400 miles on it but the front end is shot.. wheel brakes, forks, plastics.. He wants me to fighter it but why go back to a stock front and when you can upgrade?

I was thinkin go to a 600rr front end, I was thinkin a 900rr but he wants to rip it at the track. I didnt think that would work too well, it'd be too damn heavy. Though about a 929, ir a 954 front end also. But I havent seen many front end swaps on these bikes..

Anyone see any pictures or tutorials on one thats been done on that bike?

all you need to do is find out what the bearing sizes are, and the stem length. if you find a stem on ANY bike that uses the same inner diameter bearing size, you can use the f3 steering stem bearings on that stem. as long as the length is close to the same, should drop right in, just may have to get creative with the steering stops on some swaps.

OR, find something with the same outer bearing diameter, and use the bearings for that front end.

OR, do some creative bearing swapping. sometimes it's just as simple as machining a mm off a stem or something to get the races to fit. you just need a set of bearings with the right inner diameter for whatever stem you're using, and the correct out diameter for the frame you're putting it in.

i wouldn't reccomend cutting a stem and lengthening it to make a swap work. i saw a stem break at the welds after it was lengthened... it wasn't a pretty sight. if it came down to that, i'd just press the f3 stem out of the f3 trees, and have it welded into whatever triples you want to use. sometimes you may need to drill out the hole bigger, or make a collar to take up space in a hole thats too big. either way, make sure you put a weld on the bottom to keep it in nice and tight.

f3 steering stem bearings are:

upper- 26x47x15
lower- 30x55x17

as far as bolt in stuff, you can use a 93-98 cbr900rr. i need to update my bearing size list, seems it only goes as far as 99, so anything made after that, i don't have bearing sizes for.

ive seen some fighters on speedvision that have the gsxr750 fronts and cbr600rr rear so i guess it just depends on how custom he wants to go with his build

yeah, i had a friend put a gsxr1100 front end on an old style cbr1000, which uses the same bearings and stem as the f2/f3. from what he told me, it sounded like a major p.i.t.a. i think he ended up having a custom stem made.

just like you said, it'll all depend on what kinda time/work/money he wants to put into it.

Yeah I know, I tried talkin the kid into a set of 929's or 954 forks and he said no.. w/e. No skin off my ass what get mounted on there. All he's payin me for is to mount it up, which would take me what.. 5 minutes? I dont even gotta press the stem's.
