For a cheap but safe headlight pull one off a bike at a yard and fashion some mounts, chances are that if it says off road only then it's not going to be safe running 50+mph

Most manuals say to change fork oil every 2 years so it wouldn't hurt. While you're at it you could put new bearings on there entirely, I really like the tapered bearings; they're a little more tricky to adjust but they give such silky smooth handling.

No they're probably not bad but really tapered bearings will last longer and they give a smoother steering experience imo. They do adjust differently than ball bearings though, they're more sensitive to adjustments made.

Is it worth it? I think so, I put them in any bike I have if I happen to take the front end off; the steering is so smooth yet so responsive. It makes the bike feel more flick able yet will also carve through a corner smoother.
