so I'm almost back on the road. my air filter and new oil filter are on the way, brakes are back on, coolant is changed, all things I was putting off til I had it running smoothly (I changed the oil once already, but elected to use a valvo. 20w50 car oil i picked up for 3 bucks a quart from work since i knew i wanted to change it twice). i still have the body left, but I've done come up with such an intricate design I've elected to just make a temporary square tail piece with a few 5 dollar marker lights for now then take my time on the one i plan to use permanently. same with the headlight, I'm making a mini ferring to go with the oem light but until i do, i plan to remove it and the support and bolt up something cheap....
but i don't know how cheap would be too cheap. I rigged up a kc light to a resistor once before and that turned into a disaster. I blinded oncoming cars with it on bright and on dim, well lets just say i came up on a car in a curve one night and next thing i knew i was driving straight straight down the ditch and had no idea at what point i had left the road. so any idea what i could pick up for about twenty bucks that won't leave me or anyone else blinded. Was thinking a couple small foglights maybe, I've seen plenty on here, but what kind of rating am i looking for when i go to pick one up. i glanced at a few in the parts store the other day but couldn't seem to find any kind of wattage or lumen spec on the boxes. Most said for offroad use only as well.
I'm also curious as to whether i need to do anything with the forks and center bearing. with it sitting up as long as it has (5 years) should i go ahead and pull them, changing the oil and greasing the bearing? i asked this in the suspension section a day or two ago and haven't gotten any feedback yet. i just want to make sure I've covered everything before i get on the road and something major break because i missed something preventative.
