Hi guys I need to pick your brains for my GSXR project, I'm going to extend and fit a Hayabusa swinging arm but also modify it to use an Aprilia rear wheel and brake setup.

I'm worried about the strength of the new brake caliper locating pin in the arm, I'm using the Aprilia caliper and bracket so have purchased the matching locating pin and I will dill and tap it into the swinger in the new location but the thickness of the arm is concerning me as I doubt it will take the braking load. One idea I had was to get a block of billet machined to fit inside the arm and get this welded in and then I can drill and tap into a solid block, what do you guys think?

have a top hat type bung turned up with a tapped hole in it , drill a hole right through the arm, have it welded on both sides, be plenty strong, that,s how Aprilia do it

Cheers Yan, it makes sense to do it the way Aprilia do it and I was planning on getting billet slugs machined to join the extensions to the arm.

Cheers.
