You guys are gonna love me for this...
I realize a lot of you don't like the attachment system all that much (and neither do I to be perfectly honest). Sometimes, you just want to post the WHOLE picture, not just a little tiny thumbnail....
So you have to go to some stupid website like Photopost or Imageshack to upload your pictures that they will probably randomly delete on you, or just won't show for certain members... :evilred:
So...
Introducing... vB Image Hosting!
Up in the navigation bar, you will see a link that says "VB Image Hosting" If you click on it, a drop-down menu will come out.
It has the options:
My Images (view images you have uploaded)
Upload an Image (pretty obvious..)
View All Users Images - See what others have uploaded (unless they set their picture to private... more on that later)
You can upload an image from your computer, then it will bring you to a screen that shows the image as well as:
File Size25 Image Dimensions401 x 409 Upload date2006-12-01 BB Code IMGBB Code with URLHTML Code
To post JUST the image in a post on our forum, select ALL of the code from the BB Code IMG box, then just paste it directly into a post!
To post the image AND a link to the image, select ALL of the code from the BB Code with URL box. This is useful with larger images, as the system will trim them down to 320x240 (max size, it won't distort the proportions), so they fit into a post automatically. With this option, users can click the link to see the full-size image. (1024x768 pixels, 1 MB Maximum picture size)
Image types supported: .jpg, .gif, .bmp, .png
Even better....
If you are making a post and decide you want to add an image... on the right, below the smilie box, you will see:
My Photos[Open] [Quick Upload]
If you click [Open], you will see all the images you have uploaded, and you can simply click on one to add it to the post.
If you click [Quick Upload], then hit "browse", find the picture on your computer, then hit "Open", then hit "Host" it will add the image right to your post.
Setting pictures to Private-
When you upload from the link in the navigation bar, you have the option to set images to private so others cannot see them when they click the link to View All Users Images in the navigation bar. If you set a picture to private, it will NOT display if you post it, but you do have the option to set an image back to Public in the My Images section. When uploading right in a post, you have no option to set to private, as it would not display in the post.
I figure this will make things a little bit easier for everyone, especially during the buildoff!
If you have any questions or experience any problems, let me know in this thread, as this will become the support thread for image hosting.
Enjoy!
