Hey guys! Brand new here, working in swapping a 1990 gsxr 750 motor into my bandit 600! Now I got the whole gsxr for dirt cheap, so I was hoping I'd be able to swap the front end over as well, the steering stem on the bandit (96 bandit) is welded into the lower triple so I can't press the stem out the bearings are the same, the diameter of the stem is the same, however the gsxr stem is just under a half an inch shorter then the bandit stem... I suppose my question would be, could I get away with using the gsxr stem? If not, which direction do I go? Ty!! Long time reader here, first time.member/poster. Any help is greatly appreciated

grind the weld off the bottom of the stem, it'll press out , weld a threaded insert into the bottom of the stem, add a new head

Sorry.. I feel stupid, why weld threaded insert in? And do this after I get it pressed out? Thanks!!

once you grind the weld off the stem will have nothing to stop it pulling through the bottom yoke, If you add an internal thread you'll be able to put a head on it

You could get a b12 bottom yoke, press the stem out of that, fit it to the gsxr bottom yoke.
You may need to look at re do the lock stops as they won't be the same between the two bikes
