Ministers are exploring the introduction of the devices - expected to cost hundreds of pounds - which automatically cut the throttle on motor-bikes to bring them within the speed limit.

Known as Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA), the devices will also be able to track bikers’ journeys and store data about each motorbike’s speed.

Please note, that this is a British publication.

No matter, I find this very disturbing.
Altho, if they tried implementing this in the US, I wonder
how many people would sue the government for disabling
a bike (enuff so) that it could NOT avoid an accident or sumpin.

Ya know what I'm saying?

yea , your motor shutting off or cutting back at all could cause a serious accident !

although they already come with top speed elimiator that shuts the bike down at 183 i think it is was on mine, I had my buddy at the shop disable it ?

I would DEFINITELY disable it! That shit would NEVER fly in US. Voters won't allow that bs.

...although... there are a LOT of chopper/Harley riders out there who can't keep up with the sportbikes, so they may all vote in favor of it :LolLolLolLol:

Dude ALL the superbikes have the top speed shut off's on them HERe IN THE US !! What you ride ( it's on there ) the only reason i found out was because i was clocked at 176 at putnum on my fzr 1,000 race bike and my buddy chris meyers who races in AMA and when i got the 1,000, He assured me that this year on my zuk 1,000 i would top 180 and I had better disable it. So they did it at the track ( after my superbike fork internals )????

That's one thing.. but this thing is totally different:
Known as Intelligent Speed Adaptation (ISA), the devices will also be able to track bikers’ journeys and store data about each motorbike’s speed
now shits just not cool!

another idea they have:
He said experiments had been carried out using a buzzer in a helmet or a vibrating seat which is triggered when a signal from a roadside beacon detects the rider is breaking the speed limit.
WTF?

SOOOOOOOOOOOORRy .........I guess what i was trying to say that that technology IS already installed here in new cars they only have the right FOR now to retrieve certain info. I will look for the artical i read year before last discribing what was being installed in all late model cars now and since 1994 i think it was, and i was under the understanding that my computer in my formula firebird would also record the beating i was giving my car and my speeds.?????
I Think it's alreaady there, but i can dissagree without argueing, shit I can dissagree without even knowing what the hell i'm talking about:LolLolLolLol: :Stupid:

sort of. i used to work for gm. yes the ecu's store alot of info, but it's not easy to get to. i don't recall ever seeing a "maximum speed" section or anything like that while digging thru any gm computers. they do have top speed limiters, but to my knowledge, they don't record the top speed the car has been. of course, it's been a few years since i worked at a gm dealer, that could very well have changed. i know i've been thru many a firebird, camaro, gto, even grand prix gtp's computers. i know you can get alot of info from the cars, but i dunno about getting "beating" info.

My top speed is limited to 186, because that's safer than 192, right?

Look. They can pull shit with car drivers, but not with bikers. Disabling annoying things is a motorcyclist tradition.

The traffic nazis DO have pull here, though. There are speed cameras being set up in a few states, including MI, Mass, and FL, but no one seems to care. That happened in England, and when it started bothering car drivers it was already too late.

I'm not interested in speeding in the triple digits or anything like that, but there's two things you don't do: Give tickets for 5 over (speed cameras do and will), or put extra shit on my bike.

the newest one was summet about wapping a chip in tyres or summet....

thing is with us brit bikers is we tend not to bitch or complain ect so the govenment trys to pull the wool over our eyes an enforce strict laws ect on bike riders coz the less ppl riding= less bike related deaths in fact they r changing the laws around motorcycle tests so ppl who ride can avoid having accidents altho 9/10 (or summet) bike accidents r car related SO WHY THE FUCK DO THEY NOT CHANGE THE CAR TESTS!!! COZ BIKERS R REBELS AND ARE AGAINST SOCIATY?? WHY IS OUR GOVENMENT TRYING TO KILL OUR BIKE SCENE!!!!

with the increase in gas prices.. so raises the quant. of bikes out there..

more bikes.. more skill.. more aggresive riding.. less police cars that are effective.

what it come down to is that there are more bike related accidents because there are an increased number of riders..

they had these speeding problems all along but they are more prominent now that the bike scene has started to blow up..

young guns.. bigger balls.. increased HP..

they need a way to take control..

only probelm is how do you regulate older bikes.. and how do you keep us from taking them off..

oh .. yeah.. "you need it there to pass inspection".... ha ha.. no hard to instal and uninstall just for the day... dumb shits...

or if you get pulled over and they see it's not there... ok.. dummy case.. it's all easily masked..

California is passing legislation to smog check bikes that never even had smog equipment. Get used to it. The "nanny government" that Britain and Canada are already shackled with is gaining ground here in the states too.
