I have decided that I want more protection than work boots offer. I also want to be able to walk around when I get there. what do you guys suggest. I have no experience with any type of riding boot. are those low cut boots any good? (I know sidi makes a set that looks like beefy sneakers). oh and airflow... I'd rather avoid the  smell thanks!

The sidi , shoe doesn't have a great deal of protection other than skid protection and they wouln't come flyin off. Well that's somethin, I guess ? I have a pair of them, and they are ok to walk in, but not too good for that at all. I LOVE my Joe Rocket ( speedmaster ) boots, They have alot of protection and the leather is so soft and plyable = A verry comfortable boot.

Off road = Alpinestar teck 8

I just bought a pair of Icon boots, and yes they are clunky as hell but they were cheap and better than work boots. I think they will break in OK and give decent protection for a street boot. I bought the Super Duty's for $45. My buddy hooked me up at half price. My Alpinstars wore out too fast.

I wear a pair of Red Wings that are all scuffed up from crashing in them...

Full grain leather, polycarbonate toe shell, extra leather over the heel, and I'm confident they'll never come off.
I also wear them for about 12 hours a day, and walk everywhere in them. Feet are never sore... just get a set of gel soles. They're friggin sweet.

I much prefer them for riding over a set of Alpine Stars or Teknic boots

I am in the same boat. Looking for decent comfort, good protection, and good feel for controls. I really like these puma's
But too much cash right now. Is there anything anyone has tried like this style thats maybe a bit less? I figure these pumas would be comfortable, their shoes fit me perfect.
